I have decided to change up my rankings and go away from your typical top 10. I plan to do this for most sports. Football especially since eventually they will go back to 16 teams making the playoffs. Other sports you are talking sub-state to get to state. In my opinion not just in football but other sports when you get down to 16 teams you have good caliber teams with any that could make the final four or elite 8. So here is the first edition of the Super 16. These are the teams who I think as of this week are the top 16 teams and would make the playoffs regardless of district:
1. Newell-Fonda 4-0
2. MMC 3-0
3. Glidden-Ralston 3-0
4. Fremont Mills 4-0
5. HLV 5-0
6. Colo-Nesco 5-0
7. Janesville 4-0
8. Don Bosco 2-0
9. Central Elkader 4-0
10. GRTA 3-1
11. East Mills 4-0
12. Exira/EHK 4-0
13. Lenox 4-0
14. HLP 3-1
15. CR-B 3-1
16. Northwood-Kensett 3-1

I'm just not sold on Colo yet. They are 5-0, but the teams they've played all have losing records & a combined record of 4-19. I believe they are a quality team, but not #6. I would put them behind everybody else on your list.

I can understand that and it will be interesting to see how they fair with HLV and Don Bosco. I would say this 8 man season has a lot of teams that have chances to make the dome and also win the state championship.

Just looking at your list here...teams 11-14 are some real sleeper teams in this list. If CR-B had Evans still running the ball I would include them but I don't think they quite have the horses without him to compete with Glidden in their district and the top level teams after already losing to MMC. East Mills and Lenox both I feel have a real shot at knocking off Fremont at the top of their district this season if they stay healthy. East Mills gets their shot this week to see if they are the real deal or not against FM. Exira-EHK had an impressive win over a good ArWeVa team last week which I thought they would lose to so that showdown with Newell Fonda for the top spot in district 1 is looming and could be interesting one. HLP is, in my opinion the biggest sleeper out of them all. They are a very tough team taking Newell Fonda down to the wire. They will get tested this week at WBM to see if they are really for real or not.

I would agree with the comments above. There are some nice teams, that if they get hot and catch some breaks at the right time, could beat one or more of the upper tier teams.
