What are the sub .500 teams with the best chance to make some noise in the playoffs? How realistic is their chance to make it to state?

Odds are the first team will lose to North Scott before state, but eyes on Bettendorf. They have lost a lot of close games over the past two weeks including a 2 point loss to PV in a game that they led. They play superb defensively. I can see them beating Senior and Hempstead.

The other to watch is Davenport North and Muscatine...

Clinton may have the better record than Muscatine, but the Muskies only lost by 10 earlier this year. Other than a blowout loss to PV and Xavier, Muscatine has been playing better lately. They get IC High if they get past Clinton, which would be a match up of 2 teams that will have losing records.

Davenport North/West have the harder road. If North plays they way they did against Assumption in the first half last week they can beat a lot of good teams, including PV. First the Wildcats would have to find a way to get past the Falcons. Then they get PV. If they bring up the pressure for the entire game I think they can give PV a run for their money. Against Assumption they brought a lot of pressure in the first half creating 10-12 turnovers, which resulted in a lot of fast break layups and 2 dunks. They went away from that in the second half and played into Assumption's hands with more half court sets. PV loves to drain the clock in a woefully slow offense, so if you can speed them up you have the best chance. If they manage to get past PV the odds of making state are very high then. They would get Clinton, IC High, or Muscatine for a trip to state.
