Records at ND and LSU seem to trend the other way.

I doubt it. LSU was at its worse in 2020 and 2021. He had to rebuild the entire team. An example is the last time they played in the Texas Bowl was under an interim coach and they had only about 40 scholarship players and a wr was converted to be the QB for that game. Thats what he started with and played in the SECCG the next year . Tge following year tge QB who he got from the portal won the Heisman. The 2 years before that were 2 of LSzu’s worst years in this century. BK left Freeman’s ND roster pretty full. So the LSU roster trajectory is well up from before BK.
Michigan didn’t steal anybody from LSU. One of the richest men in the world bought him. The gentleman’s fourth wife was a Michigan grad and she got him to pay $12.3 MM or $4.1 MM for 3 years for him. Actually he had stayed with LSU when he first offered twice as much as LSU offered. He and his family liked the QB coach and hoped he would turn Underwood into a Jayden Daniels. $12 MM was too much to turn down.

You better believe Michigan stole him from LSU. Underwood saw alabama beat LSU 42-6 on his official visit and he decommitted a few days later. He didn’t want to be part of a program that was imploding.

Underwood didn’t commit a few days later though Michigan doubled his NIL. It was about a month later when they tripled his NIL. You shoukd get your facts straight. Actually more than trippled because the Michigan NIL was for 3 years.
