Elevated 8
1. Morningside 4-0
2. Wartburg 3-0
3. Northwestern 4-0
4. Upper Iowa 3-0
5. Grand View 3-1
6. St. Ambrose 2-0
7. William Penn 3-1
8. Central 2-1

I changed my rankings just to get away from your typical top 10 and if the state had a college playoffs as of this week, this would be who I would think would get in.

I would put Upper Iowa at # 1. It is Iowa's only D2 school that competes in one tough conference. This coming weekend will tell just how good or bad they are when they play Minnesota Duluth. But for them to be 3-0 at this point is impressive.
Central is D3 But haven't followed them to know how they are stacking up.
The rest are NAIA with at least Morningside having dropped from NCAA D2 because they could not compete.

Warburg is D3 as well. Morningside has a huge game with Whitewater this week, so that will tell a lot. I would agree Upper Iowa will have a challenging game that will also tell us something. In my opinion just because the Peacocks are D2 doesn't mean they are superior to the D3 and NAIA schools in state. I think a good chunk of the schools in state would compete with them on a regular basis. Kind of like 2A and 3A schools competing with 4As. Just because they are bigger doesn't mean they are necessarily better in sports but because of competition will tend to be competitive every time. D2 is more about what and how much you can get for scholarships. Again in my opinion one of the bigger reasons Upper Iowa went to D2 so they could be attractive to gain students and students athletes to a small town. I feel if they would have stayed D3 they would no longer be a school. With that said if the Peacocks keep winning, they will move up.
