Class A
10:00— West Hancock, Britt (9-2) vs. Hudson (11-0)

1:00— Edgewood-Colesburg (10-1) vs. AHSTW, Avoca (11-0)

Hudson vs West Hancock. True State Championship game. To bad they have to meet in the Semi's. To good of a game to predict a winner. These two teams mirror each other so much, that the the team with less mistakes will win this one. It will definitely be a slobber knocker. West Hancock wins a thriller 30-28.

Avoca over Ed-Co 21-7. Losing Rochford will hurt Ed-Co's chances IMO.

Yes. We never had a great offense to begin with and edco exploited that by sending 7 guys every play. Avoca is a different story however, with a high powered offense. Avocas defense is decent at best, but without rochford Avoca won’t have to worry to much on that end. West Hancock vs Hudson is true championship. The only reason I give it to hudson is Britts offense is predicated on beating up and wearing down teams. Well Hudson just so happens to be the deepest team in class A rotating a lot of guys on the line. But I feel Britt has 2 elite running backs compared to Hudson’s 1 elite running back. I gave the 1 point edge to Hudson just because they are 11-0. Really it’s a toss up

Beasts by 10 in the Semis.
Hesitant to call a winner in the other bracket.

i don't think these teams mirror each other, WH will try to pound the ball while Hudson looks to spread the field. I don't know if Hudson can hang though because I've learned that the kids from that area are tougher and more physical than other kids in the state of Iowa. unfortunately we only have regular high school kids who put in a lot of work and love football

IMO pounding the ball against Hudson will not work. Their kicker & punter are too good to give WH a short field. In order to score on Hudson you need to air it out and go to the outside.

I think a team that can pound the ball at Hudson will beat them as long as they play solid defense. I think teams like Grundy Center, East Buchanan and I believe 1 other all rushed for over or close to 300 yds rushing and neither of those teams are a passing team. I think WH has the horses to run the ball but yet a better defense than the other teams mentioned. Hudson is very big up front but they can be pushed back and thats advantage WH. The key will be for WH to control the ball and the clock to keep Hudsons offense off the field. As for the other game I think AVOCO will be just to much for EDCO especially if the Rochford kid is still out. Avoca has to be one of if the the most balanced team in the state run and pass as close to 2000 yrds each and a ton of speed. Were they 1A last year?
