What a great job of coaching coach Miller and his staff did tonight at Washington.huge turn around from 1st game they played against Washington. This Demon team will be back and very good

Heck of a game at Xavier tonight. Heck of a lot of games around 3A for the first round - Maquoketa wins by 6, Decorah upsets Independence, Solon beats Washington in OT, Spencer gives SBL a scare, Heelan falls, Harlan falls (I think - they didn't come back, did they?).

Waverly Shell Rock couldn't get anything going on offense in the first half, and Xavier had a couple of big plays to go up 14-0. But the GoHawks blocked a field goal in the third quarter, then later went on an 11-play 83-yard drive, converted on 4th and short, 4th and 15, and finally 4th and goal from the 21 to make it 14-7. Xavier couldn't get a first down, and WSR drove back inside the 15 in the final two minutes. The Xavier D came up with a huge sack on 4th down at the 13 to finally ice the game.

I don't have the time right now to go through all the expected 2nd round matchups, but I can pretty much guarantee you'll see Decorah at Xavier, Solon at West Delaware and Maquoketa at Assumption on Monday night.

Everything just got a whole lot easier for a few teams now that Harlan is out.

Pella, Xavier, and Assumption are the teams to beat IMO.
