Dubuque Senior 68, Iowa City West 59 in Iowa City. Probably not an upset because anyone who has seen Senior play at full strength knows that they are as good any team in the state. Not to take away from Iowa City West in any way because they are still probably the team to beat in 4A in Des Moines. In my opinion the MVC is the strongest conference in the state, with no bad teams and most just beating each other up each and every week. The Iowa City West multi-year streak of not losing at home has ended at 81 wins. It was also Senior who ended West's 60-game win streak (home and away) in 2014.

I believe he is a four-year starter, and the only regular who will graduate this year. He is a fantastic high school player, but at 5-9 or so, he is not tall enough to get many major college looks, I'm afraid. He'll be a great get for a smaller college or mid-major program. He's the perfect point guard for Wendell Eimers' teams which are right out of Hoosiers (the movie) or Bobby Knight's playbook with their tough floor play, crisp passing and tight defense. Senior's not tall, but all five starters are really good shooters. And very disciplined. Rare to see that intensity in a high school team.

Western's loss was to Madison, South Dakota.
#2 in Class A. Had a good big man & multiple deep threats.
Poor shooting and was really disappointed with the lack of intensity, especially on D.

Hoping it was a wake-up call.
They will need to turn it up a notch in the post-season or we'll be staying home this year.

I think Wendell Eimers is quite possibly the best coach in the Valley. He just doesnt get the recognition he deserves. year in year out, regardless of his teams talent, they are always overachievers
