Roland-Story has hired a replacement for long-time coach Kerry Van Winkle. And it is Aaron Stensland. He has been with the Norse as an assistant for the past couple years. He was the former head coach at Nodaway Valley and is an Iowa Falls native. The article doesn't say, but I think he may have been an assistant at one of the DSM north suburb schools (Johnston? Urbandale?)

More details in the article.

New Coach at R-S

Not that I am the most in touch person, but I have not heard a negative word from any student or parent regarding the hire. I think it will work well. Considering the long tenure of Coach Van Winkle, hiring someone from within the program will more likely get better acceptance for any changes that may take place, than if someone with no ties came in and started changing stuff. But back to your original question, especially in regards to the players, it was a well-received hire.
