Just curious about Rockford's school name -- why do they just use Rockford for their athletic teams when the district goes by Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock? Has it always been that way?

I love it from a simplicity standpoint but I can't think of too many consolidated districts that have a hyphenated district name but allow only one of the town's names to be used for its sports teams.

The official name of the district is Rudd Rockford Marble Rock. The school is in Rockford, I am not sure but I think that is the way that it has always been. Marble Rock and Rudd are tiny towns, so I guess that they just go with Rockford for simplicity, no different the Howard Winneshiek going by Crestwood.

Makes sense ... although Crestwood is a little more generic ... it would be like calling their teams "Cresco" because that's where the high school is -- which I'm sure some people do. I know I have started referring to the teams around us by the high school's town instead of their alphabet soup names. It's just easier.
