West Lyon vs Western Christian
Dike-New Hartford vs Saint Ansgar
Regina vs West Branch
Underwood vs Van Meter

Thoughts?

I would not be surprised if district 4 has two teams in the final 8.
Very good district.
Clayton Ridge beats Beckman (non-district) and will probably will not make the top four in that that district.

SCC v Saint Ansgar
West Lyon vs Hinton/Underwood
Van Meter vs Regina
West Branch vs Dike-NH

Only thing that could change is SA v DNH, SCC v Van Meter, WB v Regina
These are the 8 teams I have at this moment.

I find it hard to believe that Regina and West Branch wont play before the dome. With the traveling distance being a big factor in match-ups, their proximity will be hard to ignore.

I'm trying to remember but I think that was a possibility last year as well. Regina - WB could still happen before the Dome, but with the new rules there's much more leeway when it comes to the State selecting matchups. A lot of it has to do with balancing teams from the east and west side and it gets a little tricky with the teams in the central part of the state.

The way I understand it, is that distance is the #1 thing the state takes into consideration. Regina and West Branch can't meet until the quarters but if they are both still in the playoffs they will most definitely play each other. Isn't this the game everyone wants to see? I understand it's frustrating that they want to meet in the dome, also it's frustrating that they are the 3rd best team in the state. (Behind Regina & DNH), but the top 3 teams are on the eastern side of the state this year.

If West Lyon, SCC, Underwood, Van Meter, and Saint Ansgar make the quarters (which is going to be a possibility) then that leaves WB, ICR, and DNH to fend for themselves.

There is going to be a 150+ drive no matter what the IHSAA does.

I guess I don't see the issue. DNH & St. Ansgar play (Northeast Iowa) , Regina & West Branch play (Southeast Iowa), SCC & West Lyon play (Northwest Iowa), Van Meter & Underwood (Southwest Iowa)

If we make the quarters I'll be happy. For now, I'm worried about week 8 and Wilton. Nothing else really matters from a WBFB standpoint

I understand that West Lyon is the traditional power from the west side, but Western Christian and Hinton are just as capable of making a run. District 2 has three very good teams.

I am thinking D2 opening round will look something like this....

Western Christian vs. Ridge View
Hinton vs. Avoca/IKM Manning
West Lyon vs. Emmetsburg

USF you are right, what I should have said is 2 of these 4 teams will meet in the quarters from NW Iowa Hinton, West Lyon, Western Christian, SCC.

WBBF - I saw Wilton play @ Williamsburg. They could not do anything on the ground or in the air. Bears D will shut them out.
