What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I do around 2 workouts every day. Every day I have to lift in the morning at 6:00 AM. Twice a week we condition. After that I head to work construction. Towards the end of the day after work I train for Ryan Smith, Alex Kirton, DVario Montgomery, and Xavier Williams at Innovative Athletic Performance. I go there 3 days a week, and train for wrestling on the other days.”
What do you feel you have improved on most this off-season?
“This off-season I think I have really improved on my footwork, speed, quickness, and agility. I think that my coordination in my feet have improved and can give a decent release. I also think I have improved on defense, as in I have learned cover 2 as a strong safety, and I think I can guard someone a little better. I think I get a lot of good exposure when I work out with kids from bigger schools while training with Ryan Smith, and having workouts with a bunch of kids from different schools. So I think I learn a lot from that.”
How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I believe that the WG football team will be solid this year. We lost a lot of seniors last year. A lot of key parts to our team. Although I believe with the leadership we have now, and the hard working athletes we have, the great coaches, I think we will be pretty solid.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think without a doubt South Hamilton will be our toughest game. They have a strong front line and some good running backs and a good defense. We have gone 1-1 in the past two years, and are in their district once again. But I’m ready and excited because it will potentially be the district championship for the 2nd year in a row!!”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Honestly our toughest opponents are going to be the south Hamilton RB’s. There are 3 RBs with 700+ rushing yards. As well as 3 more RBs with 300+ yards. So we are going to have to stop all 6 guys if we want to win. Noah Gunderson, Nick Severseike, and Landon Skartvedt, are the core runners to that team.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I would like to play football in college.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Actually no college has really recruited me. I’m going into my junior year hoping I can get heavily noticed after this year. I have some decent film as a Sophomore but I don’t know if any college was really impressed too much, enough to reach out.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Like I said, honestly I haven’t really gotten any looks yet from any colleges.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I haven’t really made any trips yet to any colleges.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“No trips planned YET.”
Have you done any camps this off-season? How do you feel you performed?
“I have done 2 camps, the Grand View camp and the ISU camp this off season. I feel that I’m not going in with enough confidence. Although I learn a lot each time I go and learn what I can do to better myself. I feel that I can match up somewhat equally for 1 on 1 drills and am in about the middle of the pack. Not the best there but definitely not the worst.”
Do you have any plans for camps ahead?
“I have a team camp at Grand View which is my only camp planned for the future. I hope that I can get potentially noticed maybe this time around.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite college was of course the IOWA Hawks. I still dream of making a way to get there someday. Praying even an opportunity from a little school pops up. Then hopefully build my way up. I trust in God’s process that something good will happen. I just have to keep going.”
