How did the football season go for your team?
“As a team, we finished 4-6 after only finishing 1-8 the year before. Our defensive backs had an outstanding year, combining for fifteen interceptions and eight fumble recoveries. Although we didn’t make the playoffs, it was a fun year with the boys.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“My plans for working out are to build more muscle because I’m only 5-foot-6 and 150-pounds. With that, I will need to increase my speed and explosion. I am running track and playing catcher on the baseball team.”
What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“I’m trying to improve my speed and strength this off-season the most. If I want to play football at the next level, I will need to be a standout athlete since I’m such a small guy. Building the muscle and increasing my speed will certainly help with that.”
How do you believe your team will be next season?
“Next season, my team I think will be very good. Although we move up in class size from A to 1A, we have many guys who have bought into the system and are ready to get out there and succeed on the field. We have a very experienced and young team, so the possibilities are endless.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“The toughest game on our schedule is kind of a hard one to answer. We play both Lynnville-Sully in non-district play and Pella Christian in district play. With every game counting towards playoffs this year, those will be some tough games. If we want to get the title, we have to look over the difficulty of the team and watch for the weaknesses of the teams and take advantage of them.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I would love to play college football, but I have a lot of work to do.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“None have really been recruiting me. It would help if I went to a bigger school and my team made the playoffs, but I wouldn’t trade my team for anything.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not gone on any visits, but I have been to Iowa, UNI, and Iowa State games. The DI atmosphere is just incredible, so that’s my goal.”
What camps are you going to this summer?
“I am signed up for two Iowa camps currently, but probably am going to go to about six or seven and some player showcases.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite college growing up was Iowa, but I have started to favor UNI. They are both great schools with good programs. I also do enjoy Iowa Western football and that would be a cool experience as well.”
