How did the basketball season go for your team?
“The season as a team went good. You look at our record and you look how it ended and when it ended as being the disappointing parts of the season. But we knew coming in that our schedule was tough, and we couldn’t get caught up in the record. We took almost every single team we played down to the final couple possessions. We played some of the best teams thought. We never quit, and I think that’s what we’re most proud of. Coach Horman brought it up at practice a lot that reporters and other coaches would say we had fight in us and never thought a game was out of reach until the final buzzer. When it was playoff time, we felt confident, but we caught a hot Linn Mar team at the wrong time. We lost our substate game to a team one possession away from playing in Des Moines next week. I would say none of us were fully satisfied with what we did this year, but we’re all proud that we’ve built a culture we’re all happy to be a part of going into the future.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“I want to be in a gym every day. I work out with Formula Basketball as much as I can and am excited to get that going again. The main thing is I want to get in a gym and work on my game as much as I can.”
What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“I want to work on strength and athleticism. I hope to grow a little bit this off-season, which should help. I plan on trying to be physically more fit for the MVC. I also want to work on my shot from behind the arc. I wasn’t satisfied with my numbers from three this year. Catch and shoot and pull up threes are something I’ll work on a lot, as well as getting and finishing at the rim.”
How do you believe your basketball team will be next season?
“Next year is the year. We’ve been saying it since I was an eighth grader that my junior season will be the year. We plan on competing at the top of the MVC. We want to better ourselves this off-season, so we can give ourselves an opportunity to play in Des Moines come March 2019. We’re super excited for next season.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018-2019?
“Looking at it now, I would defiantly say the toughest game on our schedule will be going to Dubuque Senior. That’s always a tough place to play, and they return most of their core guys after being ranked #1 for part of this year.”
What sport do you want to play in college?
“Basketball. It has been my dream and goal to play at the next level since I first started playing.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“No one really yet. I’ve gotten a couple text from Community Colleges, but not much more than that.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“No.”
What camps are you going to this summer?
“I do not have any planned right now but hope to get some invites.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I’ve always liked Iowa State, but my dream school has always been UNI.”
