Team Strengths:
Passion, preparation, and shooting
Question Marks:
Depth, youth, ball handling, and defense
Overview:
Walnut Ridge and head coach Todd Kuntz will have a lot of work to do this
season. After an impressive 17-6 season, the Regents lost five starters
that will be missed. The team returns very few players who saw much time
at the varsity level last winter. Of those players, Jed Delagardelle is
the leading scorer. This 6-foot-1 junior averaged six points and four
rebounds per contest. But with those talented seniors graduated, this
athlete is ready to really have a breakout season. Delagardelle is
talented and will likely lead the way for the team. Also don't sleep on
Chris Fairchild. He is a big sophomore at 6-foot-5 and saw limited action
last year. Now that he is a year older and more mature, he will also prove
to be a tough player for the opposition to guard. If Walnut Ridge can have
their younger, less experience athletes step up, they could be a darkhorse in
the conference race. Few expect them to do much but this is turning into a
traditionally rich basketball school.
