Well, some outcomes from last night have certainly changed the playoff predictors! Good Lord did I have D6 wrong last week. I didn't think Grinnell would lay down and die at Benton last night. That may totally eliminate them from the playoffs. D2 now has a cluster for the 3rd and 4th spots with Humboldt, Algona, and Boone fighting for it. Humboldt has the inside track as they just have Perry left, so should comfortably win and should have highest points in tie-breaker. Algona and Boone will be close, so who knows. In D7, Chariton's comfortable win over Knoxville last night puts them in the driver's seat for the 4th spot. Again, geography drives these match ups with some rematches having to happen because of this.

4 @ 1:

Spencer @ Sergeant Bluff -- Lutton (rematch)
Algona @ Gilbert
Chariton @ DCG
Creston @ Pella
Fairfield @ Xavier
Benton @ Assumption
Wahlert @ West Delaware
Waverly - SR @ Webster City

3 @ 2

Boyden Hull/ RV @ Heelan (rematch)
Glenwood @ Harlan (rematch)
Decorah @ Independence (rematch)
Solon @ Washington (non-district rematch)
CCA @ Maquoketa
Humboldt @ Ballard
Carlisle @ Carroll
Bondurant - Farrar @ Norwalk

All the mileages should be within the 125 mile zone. The last three 3 @ 2 games listed could be changed as they all fall within that zone. Would be unfortunate to have that many rematches, but D1 has little choice, Glenwood is too far from anyplace else for any other options and Decorah also has geography issues (128 miles from Maquoketa).

Those are my best guesses for this week! Looking forward to seeing what Kid comes up with as he is smarter then I am....

I will go with those What intresting about the Bondurant farrar game @ Norwalk is a rematch of last years first round but instead of bondurant getting home field it will be Norwalk gets home field. I think their will be at least one district rematch.

You're too fast! Darn you all to heck!

I'm out of town this weekend (in fact, right now at 4:30 pm Saturday is the first chance I've had to even check what's going on in the world), so I won't have my impressions until Monday. I hope. I hope I find some time Monday.

I will try to break down all the districts, as far as who's out and who's playing for what; my first-round predictions; and maybe a mileage list for potential 1v4 and 2v3 matchups, like somebody asked for.

But not for a couple of days yet.

The floor is yours Kid, I just had a free morning so l could go through them some. I had no time last week till Wednesday, so just works that way sometimes! I always enjoy seeing what you come up with.

What happens if all the 3 teams on the top are tie with the same records. does it goes to point. or head to head.

I couldn't believe I watch it on high school cube Benton comunity now has four running backs now. It will be intresting They dominated the line in grinnell. Gilbert better not sleep on grinnell or it could end up. This Grinnell at Gilbert game could get intresting. if gilbert sleep.and grinnell wins and then the benton game at gilbert

To be precise, if one team in a 3-way tie has beaten the other two, they get the nod. Head-to-head still applies as the first tiebreaker - it's just pretty rare to have that situation in a 3-way tie. Typically your ties among multiple teams mean they all beat each other, and in that case, yeah, you go to the point tiebreaker.

The reason I was questioning that was If grinnell beat Gilbert this week and If they beat ballard next week and benton beat gilbert last game before.

Were you shock if that benton beat grinnell last week.

If this scenario happens, you're looking at a five-way tie at 4-2 between Gilbert, Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar (assuming they beat Newton), Grinnell and Benton. I can't see any other way to figure that out except by the point differential tiebreaker, and each team's number is going to change between now and October 23. Talk about a crazy district finish ... they'd all be 6-3 overall, too, I think.

We are almost in exact agreement here, fmclonefan. I only have Chariton and Carlisle flipped as to their district finish, which I admit could easily go either way, and hence adjusts the games with Carroll, DCG and Norwalk. But we are pretty much right in line with each other.

Out because of injuries or other issues? Thinking Wahlert may get them in week #9?

Wahlert DRESSED 23 players against Xavier and are currently playing their 4th string QB. I am guessing Wahlert is trying to win one more, get to the playoffs and start looking forward to next year. Numbers in sophmore (which includes 5 of the 23 varsity players) and freshman are much better. Not great, but much better. The senior class there is talented but few players. The junior class is neither talented nor big in numbers.

Honestly, if Wahlert makes the playoffs it is a miracle. If Wahlert squeezes out 3rd in the conference, Coach Travis Zajac should get 3A coach of the year.
