Team Strengths:
Varsity experience, outside shooting, and athleticism
Question Marks:
Lack of winning tradition and building team chemistry
Overview:
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn may have only finished 10-13 last year but the pieces
remain for a huge turnaround. The biggest piece, Jon Walburg, is back and
put up big numbers last year. As a sophomore, this standout averaged 17.4
points and 6.0 rebounds per contest. Walburg also spent the off-season
traveling the country with the Iowa Mavs and that experience against
out-of-state competition will only help the team this winter. Also coming
back is another starter, Grant Hegstad. This senior is a talented athlete
who averaged over eight points per game last year but will see a much bigger
role offensively. Time will tell how good this team can be but with
Walburg returning, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn has a chance every night.
