New Hampton vs. NFV

Here is a clip from the upcoming NFV/NH game Friday night.

Starring: Liam Neeson as NFV

Right now I also see NFV winning this easily, NH just doesn't have the O to compete, but to there defense we thought this about them the last two years against Waukon and they won both regular season matchups. To win they are going to have to finish drives, execute, and limit the turnovers.

I think New Hampton will bounce back and make this a lot tougher game than many people are expecting. I think NFV wins a close game.

There will not be anything easy about this game. If NH doesn't give Beckman 7 turnovers it is a totally different game. Credit Beckman for capitalizing on them. I believe someone said that about NFV once upon a time when "they handed" their game to CPU. This will be a good game. I am hoping that NFV is as one dimensional as they are known to be.

NH 20
NFV 13

Good luck to both teams!

New Hampton's problem as others stated was not their defense, it was lack of execution on offense and turnovers. Beckman had 70 yards of offense the first half and 50 of that came on one play. Beckman is good, not doubt, NFV is good, no doubt, but New Hampton is no slouch. I see that game as being either a blow out win for NFV or a close win for NH. New Hampton has to play with a little more sense of urgency. Neither team can turn the ball as like NFV did in the CPU game and NH did against Beckman. Yes give Beckman credit for playing very well on defense.

Unfortunately...in the above video I think Liam Neeson is playing the role of Clear Lake from here on out. But as someone mentioned NH has a way of coming up big in games just like this at the end of the year. Even with the umpteen turnovers, I don't see how NFV was handled by CPU and how many predicted that outcome before the game? Just hoping this is a good game. Can't believe we are at Week 9...

This district has been absolutely wild. All four teams can still win the district, as they each have one district loss. Gonna be a fun week 9 with all four teams facing each other.

tm33_08, did you end up going to this game? I am interested to hear a recap from someone that was there. From the score, it looks to have been a battle.

It was a great game. NFV moved the ball in the 1st half and threatened but couldn't punch it in. Finally, NFV scored to make it 7-0 early in the 4th quarter. NH went 3 and out and NFV had the ball and threw an interception which NH returned to the NFV 20. NH was able to score on a pass play to make it 7-7.

Game went to OT and NFV scored first went for 2 and got it. NH then scored on their first play of OT on a pass play, went for two, and the pass was incomplete. Game over. 15-13.

Both defenses were very good. First time I have seen either team play this year. NFV had success moving the ball from the 20 to 20, but couldn't finish drives. NH really had a tough time moving the ball on the ground, but #33 (Tenge?) made huge catches on passes and nearly scored on that interception. I would say that NFV probably out gained NH at least 2 to 1, maybe more. But NH was able to hang in because of timely defensive plays, and a lot NFV penalties. NH defense is very smart and they make you earn everything. If NFV had any passing game they would be scary. Hard to believe as many people as NH committed to stop the run that they couldn't throw even a little bit. (According to quikstats NFV ran for over 300 yards but passed for -5 yards (?) in this game.) However, NFV defense is the best I have watched in quite some time. Both teams will be tough in the playoffs.

that was a very accurate statement in my opinion coulda went either way but NFV definetely out-played NH and i was very disappointed in the way NFV played especially in the pass defense and in the passing game NFV had many chances to make a big play in the secondary and they just couldnt come up with an answer.. My perspective is that NFV line was all over NH front 7..8..9 at all times in the game. What a classic game!!!

And a final from West Union: NFV 26 - New Hampton 24

If New Hampton had one first down in the second half, I would be surprised. The NFV defense was stellar and they got a good mix of enough passing to keep the defense honest with a ton of excellent blocking for the running game.
