I guess that is a bit of a surprise as the award often has a history of going to a player who makes a strong showing at state. Can't say he is undeserving though, especially after the season he just had.

4 years of playing varsity ball, with other DI and DII players on his team, and no trips to the state tourney.

I'd agree. I tend to think Pemsl was able to dominate a game on both ends of the court and likely deserved it.

Pemsl gave up 29 points to the kid he was guarding in the game I saw.
