Miller to stay at Solon

Not a shock here. Miller appears to be one of those "big fish/small pond" personality types. Those types never end up leaving their comfort zone as a result. They also are the ones that typically don't fare well when they do venture out of their home towns.

I'm assuming that you are either

a) being sarcastic (but it doesn't sound that way)
b) looking to stir the pot
or
c) completely idiotic

I hope it isn't c) and that you are not really on here trying to pigeonhole somebody who I assume you don't know. And I also hope you're not assuming fear or cowardice instead of more likely characteristics such as loyalty and pride towards his program.

No. I believe firmly in what I said.

I have had the chance to work with Coach Miller on many occasions.

He is nothing but pure class.

And I, obviously, am not a Solon Spartan guy. So this opinion/observation is from an outsider.

I seem to recall a few years back that Williamsburg coach Curt Ritchie also rejected a hc offer at ICW. Both he and coach Miller have successful coaching resumes and are respected in their profession. I am more inclined to ask: `what's with Iowa City West'?

I don't know Coach Miller, or Coach Ritchie...but maybe, juuust maybe, they simply like where they are? Maybe they like small town living, and want their kids to attend smaller schools? Maybe they enjoy the comraderie you find in a school like the one they're in? You don't think Coach Bladt (Harlan), Coach Wieck (Clear Lake), etc have had opportunities to move on to bigger ponds? Of course they have. You don't think Ed Thomas could have moved on from AP?

These men impact many, many lives where they are. It's not necessarily a "big fish / small pond" personality type. It's not even a comfort zone, because they're still working their butts off to keep the train rolling. It's a choice they made for them and their families. The tone of iowa12's post comes across to me that he thinks this coach is "afraid" to make a move like that. I highly doubt he's afraid, or is stroking his ego by staying. He's simply making a choice that bigger is NOT necessarily better.
