Last fall Biden, with help from the H03, signed an EO that raised the cost of my lifesaving Leukemia meds from $600 per month to $9,185 per month. If I had been on Medicare or Medicaid, it would have been $0.
But since I had the audacity to have private insurance, fck me, right?
The pharmaceutical company was eating the rest of that cost and writing it off as a business loss. Your heroes put a stop to that. They can only do that for Medicare and Medicaid users now.

It took effect on October 1, 2024. It's called "Extra Help, Low Income Subsidy" or "Extra Help [LIS]."
To qualify you had to have Medicare Part D. Since I don't qualify for Medicare Part D, my costs went up substantially. You see, I have a job with private insurance and I make too much money....so clearly I needed to be punished ($1 to Karl Marx).
And my mistake, it was Rider on the Inflation Reduction Act.

Ignoring the fact that your insurers sound like lying pieces of schidt, did you take advantage of the rebate you were owed? That law required rebates for any price increases exceeding inflation.
A. It had nothing to do with my insurers. They weren't even involved prior to "Extra Help [LIS]." Nothing was filed through my insurance with regards to this medicine at this point.
The pharmaceutical company (Novartis) who developed and manufactured the medicine provided it to me directly at the reduced rate and ate the loss. They were then able to use that loss as a write off. That was no longer an option for them UNLESS I was on Medicare Part D.
B. There wasn't a price increase. The medicine didn't go up in price. They were no longer allowed to provide it to me using NPAF (Novartis Payment Assistance Foundation). Under that program, I simply paid a small portion for the meds and the rest was gifted to me.
The reason I now pay $9,185 per month is because that is my copay. The insurance company is paying somewhere around $30k per month. Before they paid nothing and had nothing to do with providing the medicine.
I've now met my maximum out of pocket for prescription meds so moving forward the insurance company will eat the entire cost.
By the way, as I wrote the above, I was reading a letter from Novartis that they sent me last August explaining in detail what was coming.
