What happened to Jesup, they were a trendy pick to win their district and make a run in the playoffs?

Despite multiple players that this website lists as some of the best in the state and a weak district they didn't even make the playoffs.

DUMPSTER FIRE...

Seen some games of Jesup. Very impressed. QB was legit. Heard they had some key injuries. But they for sure had some studs.

I would like to know who you don't think is deserving.

Sorry but I'm not calling out a High School kid. I also never said they were not deserving, you said that.

let's assume they are. So again some of the best players in the state and a weak district (all the teams got stomped pretty good) and they don't even make the playoffs?

Obviously you know the program so tell us why.

Mix of many

I'm not interested in debating about this. I am just trying to defend the athletes in the community. Tell Mason good luck Saturday he is a nice player.

Don't think the problem is the athletes. They have them. Just wondering what it is? Coaching, culture, effort, support, player leadership or something else?

I never said anything about players not being good or anything like that. You took it there right away so that makes me believe you question their skills. All I said was they have talent (according to this website and I never gave my opinion on that) and yet underachive year after year. If it was just 1 year then maybe you blame athletes.

I honestly expected to see them in the playoffs...

Jesup had some very good pieces, but were missing a great many of their players from a year ago. Specifically, from a speed perspective. Their track squad was a top 5 finisher in spring 2016 on the blue oval.

Had a lineman injured for the game against WB, and for most of the season (Richter was the kid's name, I believe. Probably 6'3, 275. Big kid. Very cordial when you speak with him.) WB was without just 4 starters for that game; #2 QB played for the Bears that night.

Last post I'm going to make for a while.
Best of luck to all remaining teams. This Bear is going into hibernation.

See you next fall.

Lol.
Even when the topic has nothing to do with West Branch, we've got to hear the injury excuse for them once again.
My take on this was that he was defending the injuries to Jesup hurting Jesup. I mentioned that some teams are able to work through injuries as West Branch did.

I am sure Jesup is sorry they did not meet your expectations Neisen. Not sure what your beef is with them. They were in some very tight ballgames vs some quality teams. You can have multiple good athletes but it takes many to succeed. Do you feel post season honors should just be reserved for the top 2 district teams?

If you want to push this on me that's fine. I never spoke about "my expectations" just posted about all the people expecting them in the playoff and contend for the District.

I also never said any of the athletes did not deserve the honors.

I NEVER saw a single post from anyone doing that or a post saying they might not meet expectations.

All I did was give my take on having the athletes and underachieving every single year.

So from what the responses say nobody has a clue why this happens year after year. All that's posted is things intended to make it look like I'm the bad guy. That's fine I really don't care but get your facts straight before you accuse me of something.

Hey PineyWineyHawk, to me it looks like WBBF was using the Bears' issues as an example to compare with Jesup.
Not sure where you come from but in NE Iowa that sort of thing is called perspective.

He's been a broken record this past month, in nearly every post complaining about the injuries WB had. As if no other team has had to deal with multiple key injuries...
I'd say I've got a pretty decent perspective on injuries and the ability to overcome them.
But, your maturity on this topic has been noted.

two things

1. I didn't intend to have this be a thread to bad mouth a program I was wondering about injuries and stuff.

2. How does every thread in this board turn into West Branch vs. Regina. I mean seriously we could start a Okoboji vs. Hinton game thread and it would turn into Regina vs. West Branch.

I wondered the same thing myself. I asked a question and jhawkpower decided to go after me instead.

Obviously they know who I am but I have no clue who they are.

We have established they have athletes and like every other team in the state had injuries. GREAT FACILITIES and yet disappoint year after year.

My team struggled for a few years and now back to back to back in the Dome. Almost every team has struggled at a point but Jesup never seems to "make a run".

Ok I screwed up and put my comments with the quote above and I'm too dumb to know how to fix it!!

In my case it's usually in response to someone commenting and taking it that direction.

Pine,
I would agree with you on this. Not necessarily by WBBF but by many individuals not excluding the coaching staff. I felt this was a discredit to the players who were left playing the game at the end. My opinion is it's not worth talking about those kids who did not go out (that should have) or are injured. It is best to worry about those that you have, not those that you don't have.
