Why did you drop Washington one spot this week?

I was wondering that myself. They spanked Albia. Granted Albia is 2A, but they have been to the dome the last 2 years.

I was at the game. Albia is a good team. They are young on the offensive and defensive line but had good fundamentals. I think they will win most of their remaining games. Washington just flat over powered them in most aspects of the game.

And that's probably true. But you just don't see teams usually lose a spot in a ranking after a 42-0 win over a solid team. Just interesting, that's all.

23 - 7 Most people would not say that was a dominating score.

Heelan dominated the 1st quarter and the rest of the game was a defensive battle. East finally scored with 4 min. left in the game and considering how close these Heelan-East rivalry games usually are you could say that it was a convincing win for Heelan, but not dominating. As far as the (way to early) rankings, I think you would have to give the edge to the team that beat a good 4A team over a good 2A team to start the season.

Ok, an average 4A team Last Season.. with losses to Heelan, Dowling, LC, Johnston & Waukee.
Luke probably thought Washington and Heelan were even on paper and with both teams playing out of class the first game the scales would almost always lean towards the 4A matchup.
Is anyone going to challenge Washington this season? I hear they are going to be good?

Yes. This week Washington gets Mid-Prairie who Luke has at #1 in 2A this week. Solon looks tough on Hudl. They have speed to burn. Washington always gets the best that Fairfield and Mount Pleasant has every season.

Also look for Keokuk to be much improved over last year.

Im not sure if having Spirit Lake the last game of the season is a good or bad thing.

I tend to think Glenwood should be ranked somewhere in there. Possibly swap out Dallas Center-Grimes in place of Glenwood.
