The season does not start until November 15 but
that does not mean IowaPreps.com cannot look ahead. This year has all the
makings of another outstanding finish because of the amount of talented players
and athletes all across the State. IowaPreps.com looks ahead and has put
together out pre-pre-season Class 1A top ten. This list is subject to
change but is meant to get fans excited about the upcoming season. Feel
free to post your thoughts!
1.)
North Mahaska
The defending State champions from last winter will be back at it this
season. All Stater Blake McGriff leads a talented group of players ready
to make another tournament run.
2.) Bellevue Marquette
With 7-foot Jordan Eglseder returning, Marquette is going to be a tough team to
beat. The big question is can they get back to Des Moines?
3.) Rockwell City-Lytton
After making the State tournament last year, Rockwell City-Lytton returns a load
of talent and will be looking for more this winter.
4.) WACO
With All Stater Travis Temple and some big men back, WACO may have what it takes
to finally get to Des Moines.
5.)
IMS
The runner-ups from last year spent most of the season at #1 but just
couldn't get past North Mahaska. Will they get another shot this year?
6.) Newell-Fonda
The Mustangs return a great deal of talent returning from a team that finished
last year at 19-4.
7.) Stanton
They may be having success on the football field but most of those talented
athletes will be on the basketball court this winter.
8.) George Little Rock
If they can replace Jason Stubbe, look for George Little Rock to be
primed to make some noise in Class 1A.
9.) Guthrie Center
With their balanced attack last season, look for Guthrie Center to use
their athletes to their advantage this year.
10.) Pomeroy-Palmer
The tradition-rich Knights will be looking to turn things around this winter.
