In my opinion Regina doesn't deserve the #1 spot, I don't care who you are, if you lose you need to drop a little in the rankings, I would drop them to #4. St. Edmond should have moved up as well after blanking MNW. My top five is:

1.) South Winneshiek 3-0
2.) St. Edmond 3-0
3.) West Branch 3-0
4.) Iowa City Regina 2-1
5.) North Cedar 3-0

However, despite these rankings I have a rematch of Regina and St. Edmond in the Championship game again.

they havent lost to a 1A team since about 2007.

so they are #1 in 1A in my book

We won't know until playoffs, but I think Regina is beatable this season. That district is really weak so they should have 2 losses at seasons end because they won't hang with Xavier.

If they have two losses it will be because they used their three non-district games to take on two ranked 3A teams and a ranked 2A team. While some other top 1A teams used their non-conference games to play down a class or play average teams.

Playing competition of the level the Regals have will help prepare them for the playoffs. They will have already been in tougher games this season.

It's been said many times before, "You are what you eat"

That is why Regina isn't afraid if it plays up against some heavyweights and loses AND if Tigerpride is right why Regina's 1A foes better keep their mouths shut during the game.

Seriously the one thing Regina's 1A foes may get from Regina losing a couple non district games against quality, larger opponents is hope. In their eyes it does make Regina look beatable even if it was playing up. Lot easier to gain some confidence if the team facing you hasn't flattened everyone they have faced.

IMO Regina is still very likely to win another title this year BUT the scores may be closer than the past. Too much coaching and those coaches being able to shore up their weaknesses exposed during that killer non district schedule.

Are you insane? They lost a 3A powerhouse in overtime for their only loss. From what I have heard, IC Regina's kicker missed a chip-shot to win the game. They could easily be 3-0. They just comfortably beat a tough 2A team in Cascade. Also, their strength of schedule is only going to make them tougher when they reach the postseason. Playing teams like Xavier, Solon, and Cascade as non-district games will make them WALK through 1A. I will be surprised if a team is within 30 point of Regina by the time they are in the dome.

I believe the closet game in the they had last year in the playoffs was a 45-21 victory over NFV. They will beat most of the teams they face by at least 3 to 4 TDs

What are the odds you are offering?

How much can I bet?

Probably not anything people associated with Regina want to read. One of the best things that Coach Cook does is try and make sure the game is played the proper way.

My bad on the post, I didn't realize Regina lost to a 3A team. Should have checked the facts beforehand.

I don't know if that will hold true or not. I think they'll win it all, but I don't think they'll be as dominant this year as they have been in the past. The defense is a long ways from being as good as last year's; they held Cascade down, but field conditions were pretty poor and Cascade's offense leans heavily on the pass. The offense might turn out just fine, but Brinkman is going to have to stay healthy for it to be at the same level it was a year ago. Phillips is a spark plug, but they can't be as good if they're counting on him to do everything but throw the ball.

Here is my crack at it.
1.) Iowa City Regina 2-1
2.) South Winneshiek 3-0
3.) Saint Ansgar 3-0
4.) West Branch 3-0
5.) North Cedar 3-0
6.) West Lyon 2-1
7.) Hudson 3-0
8.) Sumner Fredericksburg 2-1
9.) St. Edmond 3-0
10.) Jesup 2-1

Finally, rankings that are actually accurate. The only thing I would change would move Hudson into the top 5. They have proven to me that they are a VERY good team and could be pushing their way into the UNI DOME! Watch out for this club.

Here were my rankings from another thread.

JEN44, i actually have research, both on and off film, to back these up.

1) IC Regina - 49-6 is better than 19-0
2) South Winn - will anyone in D4 challenge them?
3) FDSE - defeated a top 10 team...soundly. And down goes the billboard!
4) West Branch - #1 in scoring avg (45.3) and def avg (1.0) in 1A
5) Saint Ansgar - defeated previously unbeated opponent 49-6. Top 5 strong.
6) West Lyon - They are a top 6 team and will continue proving week #1 was a fluke.
7) Ogden - dominating win and have a big game vs....
8) Madrid - ...Ogden this week. Could be a big one for the district title hopes
9) IKM-Manning - the DSM Reg really likes them; still waiting for an high quality win.
10) Emmetsburg - because I can and because they deserve it

JUST OUTSIDE: Hudson, North Cedar, Hinton, Jesup, OA-BCIG

This week will tell a lot about West Branch. Facing first team this season with a winning record.

Ghost is just trying to get a reaction.

DYK Harlan has the record for longest regular season win streak at 66 games from 1985 to 1992. To put that in perspective, prior to Regina's loss to Solon they had only won a meager 37 straight in the regular season. :p

Emmetsburg and Dowling also share the record for consecutive games won in conference/district play at 64.

These are the soundest ratings that I have seen. Well done!

In my opinion, District 4 appears to be not as strong as many of us were predicting before the season started. I think this district consists of one very good team, 5 teams teams that are very close in ability (who will play a series of hotly contested games with one another), and one team that will struggle to win a district game. Frankly, I really see South Winneshiek as the only team from this district to make the 3rd round of playoffs.

I agree - good rankings. Could West Branch be the best team in the East? This week should tell us a lot about them. Some people thought D7 was weak? 3 top ten teams! Ogden/ Madrid should be a great game.

WB had 62 from 90-96

was 2nd longest in the country behind....

...DeLaSalle, aka "When The Game Stands Tall"

Don't count out the improving Bellevue Comets. They look to be a good team with strong senior leadership. They are a very fun team to watch.

Tiger,

I would give St Eds a little more love.....they have won 16 in a row.
Must be looking at QuikStats. Now I see why St. Eds didn't want to report that loss in the Finals.

CB St. Albert was at 53 before last week. Lo-Ma was their loss before and after the streak. Is there an easy way to see the current active streak leader?

That dang James Morris and Solon gang had a pretty good run during that regular season loss.

I knew that the biggest disciple of the "Gospel According to Quick Stats" would figure St Eds winning streak out.

Kind of ironic...by not posting on Quick Stats St Eds is violating:

9. Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. [/B]

Actually, you could've easily avoided the confusion by saying they had won 16 straight games in the regular season. Withholding information is lying's ugly cousin.......

But then anything to stir the pot to try and get some unwitting person to buy into it without getting all the facts. You could be a politician, ghost. We need more people like that in Washington.

Thunder,

I couldn't have said that SE has won 16 straight regular season games because they HAVEN'T.

Might want to make sure you have the facts straight.

Guys, St. Ed's hasn't won 16 in a row, however they have won 15 straight regular season games, not including the playoffs.

So basically you are guilty of breaking the very same Commandment you were mocking St. Edmond about, correct? Thank you.
