I thought the NFV had a bigger line, but not necessarily a more dominant one. Backus had time all night to throw and whenever he wanted he hit guys all over the field or ran it as needed. Two evenly matched teams, fumble recovery on the kickoff return to start the second half was pivotal turning point for Spirit Lake. NFV seemed to win the battle on the line of scrimmage, but Spirit Lake killed NFV with the big plays, mostly through the air. Also did anybody else notice how bad the refs were in this game? Multiple holding and pass interference calls that were not made..
Yeah, yeah, and Spirit Lake recruits from the 5 state area and so on and so on.Watch the game over and look closer. Blatantly obvious holding and pass interference calls missed all night.

NFV had a couple of long runs where SL defense over pursued badly. Nix those 2 runs and we were looking at a continuous clock. NFV had a lot of heart, but were over-matched in the end. The fact that they were forced to throw and had some success was really all you need to know about the game. They never gave up and they had ample opportunities to do so. Credit the coaches and kids for playing til the end.
Yes I agree, I think that these two teams are the best in the State, looks like Offense wins championships this year. Were you watching the same game I was? Yes, Spirit Lake jumped NFV in the second half with two quick touchdown that really took some wind out of their sails, however, to say continuous clock is taking away from the idea of a "big play". It's just like saying "nix those long TD passes and it's a tie game".
SL played their game and dictated the action, no doubt about that, but no "roughing the passer", it's NFV's ball, five minutes left, with a jacked up offense, one that just went 99 1/2 yards, and that was waiting to make the comeback complete.
If this game was played 10 times, I think SL wins 7 or 8 of those ten, but it was a one score game into the 4th quarter. Relax and enjoy what the outcome.
Yes, and this SL team only played really 3 full games the whole year-- games where Backhous was playing --in the rest of the games it was continuous clock at some point early in the second half. Were you watching the same game I was? You are a looser---right?I agree 86-90 your a tool that's all
One possession game, not even close. SL scored every time NFV got within a TD. It was the same story all year for every SL opponent. Just because your beloved NFV was the opponent did not and would not change any future outcomes.Continuous clock? Good one! It was a one possession game in the 4th quarter, SL got stopped on 4th down, but flat out dumb roughing the passer cost NFV at least a chance to tie it up.

You NFV folk need to give it a rest with all your best district, best coaching, best fans bs. There are a lot of good districts and coaches and fans outside of your part of the state.
Maybe you are right about the cocky part, however this was never a one possession game once the second half got under way. One possession implies that with that one possession, if they score they can tie. It could have become that, but it didn't. It was just as likely to turn into a continuous clock game as a one possession game. IMO.Haha that's all u have?
Your the cocky know it all that is more biased then anyone who commented
