(At least I’m pretty sure I’ve got it ...)
With all the results in from Week 5, here’s what I’ve got with my (rebuilt) spreadsheet and Class 3A RPI. Like the state says, anything put out that’s not by them isn’t official, but ... I’m pretty confident here. This is what I’ve got for a top 25, plus the leader in D-2 at number 32.
32. Boone (D-2, 3-2) / .4972
I would mention what would happen if things end up as they stand now (Osky getting knocked out by Boone, four D-1 teams in), but I won’t, because they won’t. The strong RPIs in D-1 are thanks to everyone having stellar records, which will start to get worse as they play each other. The fact of the matter is, even with 5 games of data things are very much in flux. Things that are interesting: The top RPI team at 4-1 ranks above five undefeated teams; the lowest-ranked 5-0 team is Pella, but that’s below all the D-1 4-1 teams that can’t mathematically stay there; the top 3-2 team (Decorah) would miss the playoffs if things stayed as they are today (but they won’t).
