Free Throw Rule Change

I was at a team camp last weekend and observed that they were using the old FT rules where you had to wait until the ball hits the rim to enter the lane. Evidently the NFHS has adopted hat rule for next year and Iowa will follow suit. Dumb IMO.

Not true. The only rule change is they can't enter the free throw semi-circle until the ball hits the rim. Rule 9-1-3h

It sounds like this is aimed at preventing contact with the FT shooter until the ball has hit the rim...but I've heard it misinterpreted as described above already too.
 
The rule states that you cannot enter the FT semicircle until the ball touches the rim...this is to prevent the defense from making contact with a unprotected FT shooter
