Congrats to Newell Fonda on winning the championship in what was another great final game for the second year in a row. This year for many schools might have been the year that could have been as the injury bug played a major part in how teams finished the year. Here is how my final rankings ended up turning out. Feel free to add yours or agree/disagree with mine:

1.) Newell Fonda
2.) Fremont Mills
3.) MMC
4.) Don Bosco
5.) HLV
6.) Central Elkader
7.) Janesville
8.) West Bend Mallard
9.) Glidden Ralston
10.) Graettinger Terril Ruthvyn Ayshire

MMC and Don Bosco can in my book can be flipped around and it wouldn't disappoint me any. I just have MMC ahead of them due to the fact that MMC played the most difficult schedule on the way to the semi-finals in which they almost made the final game compared to Don Bosco. The bottom 6 are awfully close as well be defeinitely a gap between them and the top 4.

1. Newell Fonda
2.Fremont Mills
3. MMC
4. Don Bosco
5.Glidden Ralston
6. GTRA
7. West Bend Mallard
8. HLV
9. Central Elkader
10. Coon Rapids

I would of love to seen MMC vs NF in the finals this year. The last two years those teams have gone all the way to the last second. I took Janesville out because I think GTRA and West Bend would of beat them. Coon Rapids jumps in by beating MMC and losing to Glidden and NF. They had a great running back and a strong line. I lowered HLV with how they looked in the dome. I wasn't really impressed with them. These are my top ten.

1.Don Bosco
2.MMC
3.Newell Fonda
4. Fremont Mills
5.West Bend Mallard
6. Glidden Ralston
7.GTRA
8.Coon Rapids Bayard
9. HLV
10.Central Elkader

This is an overall team ranking.. I don't see NF in the top although they were champions. I give them a lot of credit but this is how I see the top 10. If Svoboda plays the whole game I feel that DB beats NF. MMC played a hell of a game against FM. They also played the toughest schedule in the post season and survived it all the way until the semis. Thats why I put them number 2. NF may have won it all but still have two embarrassing losses to BV and harris lake park. MMC beat harris lake park 49-0. Overall a crazy year of football and congrats to NF on a great title season. Enjoy it

1. Newell-Fonda - Won every game with pure heart, guts and as a team.
2. Fremont-Mills - Got out played on the stat sheet in both games at the Dome and were still 17 secs away from a state title.
3. Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn - Have never seen a team give a beating like that and not win.
4. West Bend Mallard - Great team. Its to bad they had to meet up with MMC before the Dome.
5. Glidden Ralston - Beat some very good teams and only lose was to MMC.
6. Coon Rapids Bayard - Talking to a couple NF players, they say this was pry the toughest team they played all season.
7. Don Bosco - Some will disagree with this. Great team. I just think the class was that deep with talented teams.
8. GTRA - See WBM comment.
9. HLV - Congrats on making it to the Dome.
10. Central Elkador - Would like to see what their record would have been if they played in the west.

What a way to end a great season with one of the best championship games ever. Cant be prouder of how the NF team played. This was a team that lost every starter from last years team. They were not suppose to be very good. It was suppose to be a rebuilding year. This was a team that never gave up, never quit, never panicked and continued to fight no matter what the circumstances were. They started out 0-3 and things weren't looking good. They rallied to win the last 6 regular season games. In the quarterfinal game they fumbled the opening kickoff and were down early but they didnt panic and came back to take the lead at half. Later in that same game they were down 19 in the 4th quarter and came back to win. In the Semi's they were down early when they let HLV take the opening kickoff back for a touchdown. Again, they didnt panic and came back to win that game. In the Championship game they lost their starting Qb to an injury while being down 8 in the first half. Just like all season they never panicked and never quit. Their motto for the season was "NEXT MAN IN". Little did they know that this would come true in the biggest game of the season. Jason Hess comes in for an injured Brady Dicks and helps lead this team to a come from behind win, scoring the go ahead touchdown with 17secs left. STATE CHAMPS!!

Tigerblood - You said "This is an overall team ranking". How is NF not #1 in your rankings? If DB was such a good "Team" then they should have beat NF without him. NF lost arguably their best player when Dicks got hurt in the Championship game and as a "Team" came from behind to beat FM. To me this shows that a team is better then one single player. Also, you cant play the if, buts, should of or could of game. You could also say if NF and DB played that game again, NF pry wouldnt fumble 4 times inside their 20 either. Its your opinion and you can think whatever you want. I just think your contradicting yourself.

Tiger how do you figre the state champ isnt the #1 team after they beat Don Bosco just a few weeks prior and same goes to MMC ahead of Fremont Mills after they beat them in the semis just 8 days ago. Sure MMC might have outplayed Fremont Mills but a victory means more than how they performed on the field really as its the most important stat in football.. And let me ask you this as well if you are ranking them by overall with Svoboda as QB for Bosco, where do you rank Exira-EHK with Peppers? Pretty clear how good they were with him and how average they were without him.

Bosco was beating by 19 N-F with 7 minutes left without their qb. They have svobda they win but they didn't. To be honest the real state championship game was in the quarter finals!

Actually the state championship was played yesterday. You may not like that your team didn't win, but that doesn't mean the real championship was played in the quarters. In years past this argument could be made, however this year not a chance. There are probably 8-10 teams that all had a realistic shot at being crowned champions this year.

NF won because they beat every team put in front of them in the playoffs. The other 31 teams(playoff teams only) did not. At the end of the day that's how it works. If your team feels slighted tell them to get to work the 2015 season begins in about 9 months. You have to give NF credit for losing all their starters from last year, the first 3 games of this year and their QB in the Championship game. Yet they still won.

Give them credit. That team earned their championship. I'm by no means am I a NF supporter, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Congratulations on winning your first championship. I'd say good luck in defending next year, but I have my own favorite so I hope you end up just short.

What a season! Congrats to the Stangs on a well deserved state title. This season was the definition of parity. So many teams could've won the title but give NF credit, they overcame every obstacle in their path. Much of that credit goes to the coaching staff for having all starters AND.backups prepared. Glad the title is back in NW Iowa. It is a gauntlet year in and year out up there. Next season will be another fun year of football!

Comments...
-Don Bosco lost by 1 to NF without its best player for 85% of the game.
-MMC outplayed FM most of the game, but made untimely errors allowing FM to hang around and sneak out the W.
-NF controlled the game pretty well against FM, but field position was a huge advantage to FM. Only 3 times they were inside there own 20 at start a drive and one of those they threw an INT. NF was routinely making long drives as they only started outside there own 20 just 5 times scoring TD on 4 of those 5 drives. NF 7 drives of 35+ yards compared to FM 3 drives of 35+ yards.
WBM lost 2 close games... 2OT to GTRA and by 4 to NF.
CRB lost 2 close games... by 12 to GR and by 6 to NF
GR lost by 16 to MMC...
GTRA lost by 15 and by 6 to MMC...
HLV lost by 18 to DB and 22 to NF...
CE lost by 8 to HLV...
