I would definitely drop Murray out. Without Nerness, that team is going to be pretty hard-pressed to compete consistently. And even as a Wayne alum, I'd probably drop them out as well.

Janesville and Central Elkader are both glaring absences, IMO.

Top 3 I dont have any problem with. I think you might have Glidden a tad high and Don Bosco a little low. I would also have East Mills in there at the bottom end of the rankings. Maybe in the place of where Murray is currently. No way they should be ranked after the Nurness departure. Huge loss for them.

I am very impressed with MMC's returning players, it will be interesting to watch them this season. What happened to Nerness from Murray?

He transferred to a school in the Carolinas (I believe I read he's got family out there and the program he transferred to is a consistent power).

Agree that Central (Elkader) and Janesville should be ranked. Turkey Valley ranked 5th is hard to understand. Don Bosco should probably be higher.

Here is how I would have it probably:
1.) Fremont Mills
2.) Don Bosco
3.) MMC
4.) Exira-EHK
5.) Central (Elkkader)
6.) HLV
7.) Glidden Ralston
8.) Coon Rapids Bayard
9.) East Mills
T10.) Janesville
T10.) Northwood-Kensett

The original looks dang good to me. I'd honestly switch Exira (#2) and Glidden (#4). With Exira losing one of the pepper bros and sanders I think they will struggle early on. Still a great team don't get me wrong. MMC will be a handful NEH said with lots returning. They have a lotta speed in that backfield and a couple of beast on defense. Last season they struggled in pass defense and I believe that will be their Achilles heal this season. That'll decide how far they go in the post season. I also do not. Let me repeat DO NOT think don Bosco is top 10 team. They lost hogan. Last year all they had was hogan. Hogan was a elite quarterback . Like a tom Brady of 8 man. He made average to below average players around him look like beast. Without him they will be just that. Average

Don Bosco was far more than just Hogan. They had several other playmakers on offense, a good O-line and a good defense. Hogan made what was a solid team into something special, but he wasn't all they had. They're a top 10 team for sure, but probably not a true title contender.

DB is not #2 worthy. They should be in the lower half, #7 or #8. Their QB this year, Svoboda, is a quick kid but doesn't compare to Hogan. Unless, of course he's transformed himself in the last year and can offer what Hogan did. Keep in mind, Hogan wasn't just the QB. He was their punter and a decent defender as well. They also lose their top two and three of their top four defenders in Corkery, D. Becker and S. Becker. Losing a top receiver in Havel as well. Their are quite a few pieces to replace...it isn't just Hogan. I do think with the experience the reserves gained from being able to finish games gives them an edge to start ranked, but they shouldn't be #2 or considered a title contender. At least not at this point.

Quite frankly I think there could be a case for all these teams on this list to be ranked lower than what they are. FM I could say could be ranked lower as they haven't played any tough competition really to prove them being ranked #1 in the class. Sure they return everyone but what does that mean when you don't play anyone. Exira loses a ton of important seniors that were leaders on that team. MMC loses Speiler (spelling?) which made that team really go last year. DB...Hogan. Glidden loses pretty much every major player off that team included Ertz who was a force. No way in my eyes the should be #2. The list can go on and on. Shows exactly how much meaning the preseason polls really mean. Absolutely nothing. I'd love to compare how they are with the final rankings at the end of the year to see how much has changed with them.

I am in no way saying Bosco will be terrible. I just feel like they will be more Average than they will be great. I hope they proove me wrong. I think they will have a decent record because they are on the eastern side of the state. But just like in 2012 I believe they will get routed at the dome but a supereior team like Exira or Freemont mills, or even MMC again. We will have to see. One team that I believe will be fairly tough is Turkey Valley. Traditionally first year 8 man teams have a decent amount of success. and I Believe they will have a great season. I think they could surprise some people with how far they could go in the post season.

Guthrie Center drops to 8-man....Will they make any noise this year? Could they even be considered for a ranking spot?

I think they could make some noise but as the district sits now I'm not sure they are even in the top two spots. Definitely behind CR-B and IMO behind Glidden. I dont think, most of the time, a possible 3 seed would merit a ranking but they could also prove a guy wrong. I do see them having a solid year though.

Heres My Rankings:

1.) Exira-EHK
2.) Turkey Valley
3.) Fremont-Mills
4.) MMC
5.) Glidden-Ralston
6.) Don Bosco
7.) West Central, Maynard
8.) Springville
9.) HLV
10.) Wayne

I think that having Fremont-Mills at number one is unrealistic. Sure they didn't have any seniors last year. But you have to remember that they and all their district teams were eliminated in the first round of playoffs last year. They did lose one player to injury at the USD team camp. Spencer is an elite player that will probably go D1. But for right now I don't see where they have earned the position of #1 in Eight man Football.

I see exactly where you are coming from Voice. Goes back to my point I think there can be a case made for about every time at this point why they shouldn't be ranked period. With Fremont Mills though I think they have a stronger case as they still return literally everyone, which is huge. In my eyes though we will find out more about this team after they get done playing East Mills. East Mills will be very salty this year and will give Fremont Mills every bit a run for their money and then some I think.
