Preseason Rankings:
1. Albia - Final 4 team this past fall. Return Isley and several other key starters. Good choice for #1.
2. Union - Very strong sophomore class that had a key part in last year's team. RB Isaiah Vaughn is tough to stop.
3. NFV - Defending champions. Lose a ton of seniors but return several key juniors. Incoming juniors are VERY good.
4. Beckman - Final 4 team this past fall. Tyler Hirsch will lead this squad that returns several starters.
5. CMB - Tough team that beat Albia this past fall. Return several players and will give Albia a good game for the district.
6. Spirit Lake - Return numerous players from a solid defense last year. Lost a bunch of seniors, but always reload.
7. Central Lyon - Return QB Pete Menage. Another good team that always competes.
8. South Tama - Very tough team. Will challenge Union for district title.
9. Waukon - Return QB Peyton Hesse (19 TDs, 3 INTs). Would have made playoffs if they played in any other district last year.
10. Mount Vernon - Freshman QB is a stud from last year. Return leading rusher and receiver as well. Should win D4.

Dome Teams:
NFV, Albia, Union, Spirit Lake

Finals: Albia over Spirit Lake, 27-21

While I do think Kuemper will be better I don't think they will win d-8. My order is Clarinda, east sac, then a toss up between S.V. and CK. It also wouldn't surprise me if SV will contend for D-8 title if QB plays better.

Here's how I see it

D1:
1. Central Lyon
2. Spirit Lake
3. Sioux Center
4. MOC-FV

Really tough district here, I think that Central Lyon will pull ahead slightly of Spirit Lake, then a slight drop to Sioux Center, and then a battle for that 4 spot

D2:
1. Clear Lake
2. Hampton Dumont
3. Osage
4. Estherville-LC

Possibly the most inexperienced district next year, Clear Lake is the favorite in my mind they will just reload, I put Hampton 2nd just because I think some of the kids got experience in big wins last year, and return a few pieces, Osage wasn't good last year, but a lot of the kids will be 3 year starters there and a new coach may bring a little life to the situation, Estherville was much improved last year I see them continuing to grow.

D3:
1. Beckman
2. NFV
3. Waukon
4. CPU

This district could be just as tough as last year, I'll give the younger Beckman team with a slight edge over the champs, Waukon was young and I see them being a lot better, and I took CPU over New Hampton just due to returning pieces.

D4.
1. Mount Vernon
2. Anamosa
3. Cascade
4. Monticello

Mount Vernon in the 2nd year of Lance Pederson will be much better than this year, Anamosa was young and I think they may be going places, Cascade seems to have it rolling, and Monticello I think finds its way back to the playoffs

D5:
1. Williamsburg
2. Mediapolis
3. Central Lee
4. West Burlington

Williamsburg is the class of this district again, Mediapolis returns enough to stay above to teams that are getting better in Central Lee, and West Burlington

D6:
1. South Tama
2. Union
3. AP
4. Iowa Falls Alden

Actually one of the stronger districts after being judged as being one of the weaker going into this season, Union and South Tama were relatively young and should be a strong battle for the title, I'll give South Tama a slight edge as I think there are a few more pieces to fill for Union, AP also returns quite a bit, I just think they weren't to the level of the top 2, Iowa Falls I'll take over South Hardin with some young talent coming up

D7:
1. Albia
2. CMB
3. PCM
4. North Polk

Albia and CMB both should be really good and you could flip these, then a drop to PCM and North Polk and again you could flip these, really no one else in contention

D8:
1. Clarinda
2. East Sac
3. Kuemper
4. Southeast Valley

Kind of a toss up district, I'll take Clarinda although wouldn't surprise me to see any of these 4 teams take the district.

Final 4

Central Lyon
Beckman
Albia
South Tama

Finals Albia over Central Lyon

D5: Should be a pretty solid district...

1) Williamsburg- Has enough experience returning to keep this powerhouse rolling atop the district
2) West Burlington-Notre Dame- A strong finish to the year has given the Falcons momentum/renewed energy rolling into the off-season. They will prove the Mepo game was no fluke, next year!
3) Mediapolis- loses key players in Massner, Holloway & Erickson but Borrison always has those boys from Mepo ready to play!
4) Central Lee/ Mid-Prairie- This is a toss-up but I think MP gets revenge from loss this past season and CL falls short.

L-M and West Liberty will struggle once again...
