Harlan must be for real beating Creston and Glenwood in back to back weeks. They also hung with CBL however I was told that the score was closer then the game actually was.
None the less, glad to see Harlan has improved over last year.

I'm interested in going to watch Solon and Oskaloosa. Haven't gotten to see Solon's defense in person yet and get to see how much of a jump Oskaloosa has made from week 1 when they had some costly turnovers on offense.

harlan has not played with # 1 qb yet this year , who should be at qb soon..he has been playing defense with cast on finger..the lewis central game, lewis central had a 100 more yds...big plays by duggan, who is now out for 4-6 weeks...his football season is probably done with........the glenwood game was play off caliber , harlan actually had a td called back due to penalty in that one....winterset and denison have play tough too in the district

Easy big Fella, Lewis Central should have put a running clock on Harlan according to people that attended the game, at the very least they say Harlan had 2 gift TD's. I was told Duggan played average at best. I congratulate Harlan on it's success but lets not even begin to suggest you would have or should have beat LC regardless of who played QB.

On another not Duggan is expected to be back possibly as early as next week if you want to believe rumors...for sure he will be back soon.

I plan on watching LC and Urbandale this week, heard the replacement QB is a good passer. Also I am hoping Harlan runs the table, would love to see them play yet this year.

I remember a time--not that long ago--when CB Lewis Central would have been on the outside looking in compared to Harlan, and them winning a game against them a huge upset.

Things change. Biggest event for CLB is acquiring possibly one of the top upcoming coaches in the state. The second is being located in a community that has experienced slow but steady grow totalling 7% between the years of 2000-2016.

For Harlan? You have a great coach that is in his twilight. Even if Bladt hasn't lost any coaching ability things can definitely change late in a coaches career (example: Hayden Fry). As far as demograghics? With the exception of 1 blip Harlan (like many rural communities) has seen their population slowly decline since its peak in 1980. While their website claims a population of 5,400 their official 2016 population is barely 5,000 and adjusted for their average rate of decline projects the town will drop below 5,000 in 2017.

Not sure why ronsss is making a big deal about CBLC (especially their QB injury). CBLC is 4A . Harlan will not play them again this year. I will say though IMO it is good for the other 3A teams that CBLC did move up to 4A from 3A. They are a program moving forward and had they remained in 3A they might have become a 3A heavyweight.

A lot of great players turn average when they play ranked teams. Keep making excuses.

Harlan is legit this year.

Once again, great work on the rankings and I appreciate the time you put in.

The Decorah vs Xavier game is the most intriguing. Both are top 5 caliber teams. If Decorah some how wins this week and next (WSR), they should jump up to #2 in the rankings.

If you're suggesting that Duggan is average then you're certifiable! It was LC's first game of the year, I was told for Duggan's standards he played average... he has a awful high standard. Where would you get that I was making excuses out of my post? As for your comment "it's simply enrollment" is that why another CB school CBAL has kicked butt in football the past few years? ( they are much larger then Glenwood who's beat them easily) I promise you, and I haven't seen Harlan play that Harlan would win against CBAL. I don't think it's simply enrollment as you state.

lewis central is better team this year than harlan, will not debate that . duggan is the real deal, and probably makes lewis central 2 to 3 touchdown better team with him in there. as for duggans injury, believe i read about his injury in the council bluffs nonpariel, they stated there 4-6 weeks..coach bladt is probaly counting his years left at harlan with the fingers of one hand, but who knows...coach bladt got his 400th victory, and might go for all time most victories, 431 i believe...time will tell....class 3a has a lot of quality teams this year, maybe the most i have ever noticed in any one given year...

Hats off to Coach Bladt and best of luck to Harlan. I will see LC this week without Duggan and plan on seeing the Ankeny game which he should be back for. Will be thinking about the 2-3 touchdown comment when watching the games, you very easily could be right

The hard part for you Counciltucky is to accept your town and your sports are the laughing stock of 4A. You have and always will be the red headed step child.

bball5050 you have greatly improved the quality of post on this board (NOT)
Other then size Council Bluffs is not that much different then Glenwood and similar demographics as Sioux City so why the harsh remarks (Counciltucky) about Council Bluffs or Kentucky I actually like both City and State.
Now to you're other remarks about the teams in Council Bluffs being a laughing stock. I have a friend that's in the recruiting department of a D-1 Program close to S.C.( you're smart and can figure where bball) and he tells me that Council Bluffs Schools could have as many as 6-7 D-1 FCS/FBS players playing on Friday Nights. ( he's including the catholic school in those numbers)
I'm not always right but I support Western Iowa Athletics and any player that straps it up on Friday Nights busting their butts for their school. I try to keep it professional, please do the same.
P.S. Maybe the Crusaders will match up with your team they should still get in as a 2 seed :)

too bad duggan not playing, i would like to see the lewis central game too...should be a good one....i use to be able to see some of the games back there now and then, i did one year get to see harlan and lewis central, at lewis central. that game was played in 1992 or 1993. another year i saw harlan and carroll keumper, in carroll...a light drizzle the who game. sure miss seeing the high school games in iowa, now i watch some of the phoenix high shool games on tv, and go to some.. they have many schools here the size of valley and bigger, some 3 or 4 thousand kids. one game i saw here a few years ago, there were 8 divsion 1 players in that game.

Nope, Duggan is legit and the top QB in the state. If he doesnt dominate, it is because the other team is good and his supporting cast isnt helping.
