Congrats to your state champions - Pella

3a coaches and teams need to step up their game. Pella is good, congrats, but winning the state title running the same snap to qb run off-tackle play over and over and over and over and over. While the other team allows them to do this without one adjustment ? Or not one message sent to said qb. Guess football has changed , has become PC as well.
Congrats to Pella , winning two straight is impressive but not a good year for 3a football.

Why would Pella shy away from what's working? It only makes sense for teams to utilize their strengths and obviously Clayberg is a stud that should be getting tons of carries each game because he has the capability to make big plays as he shows week in and week out.

CBCrusader1994 have you watched high school football at all? That may be the dumbest post I have ever seen!!! Not to mention you drool over SB-L in previous posts and they proved to be OVERRATED. Then you see teams that are actually quality such as Norwalk, Pella, & WD and you start say stuff like that. Lets look at a few previous state champs in all classes

Solon--James Morris a RB that played wildcat...seemed to work for them a few times.
WDM Dowling--Ryan Boyle a running QB...seemed to work for them a few times.
Pella--Noah Clayberg ran the ball very well & threw it a time or two...back-to-back in the last two years.

Maybe Pella should have put him at RB and just handed off to him like all the teams with good RBs. Oh wait he is an athlete you has the ability to run and pass so he should play QB...yes yes that makes way more sense. Congrats to Pella on the repeat! Well deserved by what seemed to be a very classy group from Pella.

CBC, I'm not sure I understand your post? Which are you criticizing the most: Norwalk's coaches and players for their defensive effort, Pella's coaches and players for their offensive play selection and performance, the overall state of 3A football coaches and all 3A teams in Iowa, or political correctness issues in general?

Your opinion is worth little, when the only thing you have to offer is to diminish others.

Congratulations to Norwalk on a great season and a good game!. Credit to Pella for winning 14 straight this year, and 38 of their last 39! And I think it is a great idea to acknowledge 'good job' to the players -- (I will let you pick who you think is worthy of honor and your approval). As for me, I will say "thank you" to all the kids and the coaches across the state in 3A (and beyond) this year, for fighting the good fight, for chasing the dream, for giving the effort, for striving valiantly.

As for you? I recommend keeping your lame and negative/crybaby opinions about everything to your crabby little self, unless/until you have something worthwhile to say.

You must be one of the Boone boys.
The coaches mainly, on both sides. With those players Pella coaches couldn't come up with more than that, same as Dowling last year too. It had to be rather tiring/boring for the other Pella players and parents to watch that over and over, sure was for those watching. They would have won anyway by giving #25 half the carries rather than qb off tackle over and over and over.
As for those that like boring , lame, unimaginative football hope you enjoyed. But rah rah and congrats to all the 3a and Pella and the fine efforts of Norwalk attempting to stop the same play over and over and over.

I don't know what you consider "interesting football" but from what I could tell the fans and players from both sides were engaged in the game and enjoyed every moment supporting their respective teams in the dome. The crowd for both teams filled the stands and at times the noise level made it difficult for teams to hear snap counts/audibles. Also, is a half back pass for a touchdown from Pella considered "boring, lame, unimaginative football" to you?

Anytime a qb becomes a primary ball carrier numbers shift drastically to the offenses favor. To account the difference it looked like Norwalk had to play some cover 0.
It's also risky putting your qb in that situation. In a championship game, you might as well, but did he get that kind of rushing load all season? I know in 4A Dowling can get away with it because they play two qbs relatively equally.

CBC as a long time coach I think boring is ok as long as we win. I was never overly concerned about those that felt left out because they were not the primary focus.

If they did feel that way they probably were not about winning, but more about their own personal agenda.

Nothing against #25 Henry but Norwalk was shutting him down for the most part. Clayberg got the job done. I believe at one point Norwalk was moving the ball with Bransfield doing the same thing. Good Job to both teams and a great season.

How long ago did Pella have co-coaches? Is their current coach one of the two? Where did the other coach go? Thanks.
