Dowling is looking like an overwhelming semifinalist right now. Nobody's talking about Johnston though. They've been just a notch or so below, but they've been quietly impressive, too.

So, to summarize in a more coherent order:
Dowling beat Waukee.
Waukee beat Valley.
Both Valley and Waukee beat SEP.

I'm comparing scoreboards, kemosabe.

Waukee beats Valley by 20+, then barely gets by SEP, a team that Valley would go ahead and smoke by 30+ the following week.

Waukee stomps Valley, but then squeaks by an average football team.
Valley gets beat in Week 1, but comes back and stomps that same average football team 2 weeks later.

There seems to be a mess in the sense that there's Dowling, a cluster of suburban schools (who can't decide who wants to be the #1 contender against Dowling), Urbandale, and then the 5 Des Moines schools.

Valley has improved quite a bit from game 1 to game 2, and from game 2 to game 3.
