Huge opener tonight (Tuesday) in 4A basketball as Muscatine, led by Iowa recruit Joe Weiskamp, heads to Moody Gym in Dubuque to take on the Duax brothers and Dubuque Hempstead at 7:30 in an Iowa Pride game. Two evenly-matched teams that are top-tier in their leagues. The winner should move up in the next polls.

The Telegraph-Herald newspaper didn't say it was a scrimmage, in the article about it yesterday! They should have said it was a scrimmage. Heck, all sorts of area teams had scrimmages this week against good teams, but they didn't get any mention in the T-H. By the way, does anyone know who looked good, or who won, now that I've made a fool out of myself for believing the newspaper.

Since we can bury this thread and put it to rest, can someone start a tread about some of the big opening games in the state?

ICW vs Marian Catholic
Ankeny vs. DM Hoover
Linn Mar vs. Bettendorf
Pleasant Valley vs. Moline
Waukee vs. DM North
Cedar Falls vs. Hopkins, MN
North Scott vs. Wahlert
Waterloo East vs. Waverly Shell Rock
Xavier vs. Mt. Pleasant
Assumption--- Wahlert, WDM Valley, and North Scott to start the season.

Thanks maxstabs. Wahlert starts out (with no returning starters) with five of their first eight games being against four of the top five 4A teams (IC West, Dub. Senior, Cedar Falls and North Scott) and the the No. 10 4A team, CR Kennedy. Half the 4A top ten in the first eight games. The other games are Linn-Mar, Dubuque Hempstead, which some feel should be in the top ten, and at Dav. Assumption. 0-8 start seems to be a certainty for a team that played in the last three state championship games in 3A. Look for North Scott to roll Monday night at Colbert-Delany Court in Dubuque.

In the games maxstabs13 has listed, I'll take:
West IC over Marian Catholic- talent, experience vs. Chicago area quickness
DM Hoover over Ankeny- Two strong programs
Linn-Mar vs. Bettendorf (both these powers will start slow, so I don't know)
Moline and PV- I have no idea; PV lost a lot
Waukee over DM North, but North is due for a big year
Hopkins over Cedar Falls, probably. CF is really good, but Hopkins is elite
North Scott big over Wahlert, with Basala, Seales, Boffeli looking for a state title
Waverly- Shell Rock over Waterloo East, unless East is stronger than I think
CR Xavier big over Mt. Pleasant. Saints are loaded with veterans.
Dav. Assumption loses to WDM Valley and North Scott, beats Wahlert in the Quad Cities.
