I think in the Dome PC would have been extremely tough to beat.
The State really did PC a disservice forcing #1 and #2 to play prior to the Dome while Bellevue and Denver were in the other quarterfinal (should have been Regina v. Bellevue and Denver v. Pella Christian).
If PC had made it to the Dome, there is a very good chance they are the Champs today.

Wow. I figured it would be a PC fan trying to claim this. Welcome to NW Iowa basketball.

What's this based on? Location? Order?

If West Lyon had made it to the Dome, there is a very good chance they are the Champs today. (or 1 in 4 chance, depending how good at math you are);)

Statistics, rankings, style of play, location and match ups...as well as having seen both teams play in person.

Western #2, West Lyon #4, and Hinton #5. These teams are in the same district?!? Northwest Iowa football is pretty good I would say. Western was clearly the best team in the state but take West Lyon and Hinton and move them to different districts and they probably would have been in dome too. Tough luck of district alignment. Madrid and Van Meter in same district too is pretty good too.

Just like in hoops, the could have/would have/should have arguments are always fun to make, but just pure speculation (but it makes this board more interesting).

Bottom line, you have to beat each opponent in the order they are presented if you want to be the champ.
The if only.......then we would have won rationalization, might soothe a few wounded egos, but it doesn't give you anything to put in the trophy case.

Lots of good 1A teams with the potential to win it all.
Circumstances and a great effort by a talented group of kids/coached allowed my team to win this year.
It will probably be someone else's turn next year (unless Regina reels off another 6 in a row:()

I'm sure when my son is playing varsity ball, I will see lots of injustices:p

You amazed me saying the PC vs Regina game was the state championship and now you come out and really throw something out there with this...you serious clark? Regina beat PC, but are you saying PC beats Regina if it is in the dome? So just because they have a spread attack and go into the dome, they automatically would be the favorites to win? Last I checked the team PC lost to to get to the dome, was beat by 14 by another team. I wouldn't say there would be a very good chance they are the champs today.

Jungling was the fastest guy I watched all year. His speed on turf would have been a difficult matchup for anyone. Kac could not throw the ball as well as Kooima so getting him the ball would not have been as easy for PC as it was for WC to get the ball to their receivers. WC had a nice supporting cast of receivers to share the wealth and PC did not have that option, or at least as many options. I disagree with you on, "lots of good 1A teams with the potential to win it all." From what games I saw, there were three teams that had the potential to win it all. WC, PC and Regina. They were clearly the top 3. Hinton, WL, Madrid, VM, Denver all were in the next tier IMO.

Did you see all of these teams play? I did. How can you say that PC wouldn't have won a neutral site match up?
After the game, I felt PC would have likely won and today the computer validated that opinion.

Yes, actually I have seen each of these teams play and I will base my findings from on the field instead of a computer...there is a reason why college football got rid of the BCS and the computer systems and went to a committee. How can you say PC would have beat WC?

rk#5 who up in NW Iowa has a chance at doing what Western did next year? What does Western, Logan, Hinton, West Lyon, Emmetsburg, have returning?

IMO, West Lyon will be the favorite. They lose some seniors but had a ton of good juniors that will be back next year, they will be on a mission. WC loses 21 seniors, that's hard to replace. Hinton loses 13 very good seniors, hard to replace. Emmetsburg was not good at all this year, hard to see them do much better.

PC wouldn't have beaten WC, the matchup dome or not wouldn't favor PC. BC knows there are some oddities that are unavoidable using a computer.

I think BC Moore is pretty close in about everything or as close as it can get using numbers, with that being said thank god they play football instead of going by a computer. Maybe it is very likely PC would have beaten WC, but they had to beat IC first and usually matchups vs some teams are just better than others. In this case PC didn't deserve to play in the championship game even though they may have been better against WC. Being from Denver I can say Denver wasn't in the same tier as the other teams but we're in the final four, that's just the way it is. Last year Denver lost to GR in overtime and then GR killed AW in the Championship game so does that mean Denver should have been Champs, NO, Denver lost so we have to deal with the What ifs.

WC looked awesome and played awesome they deserved it more than any other team the day they won it.

Not going to knock the computer, I think BC's stat showed 80% accuracy, which is probably a little better than anyone could do on their own, but its probably never going to be much better than 80%, so IMO anyone in the top 5 of the power rankings probably a toss up based on on computer, but 1-5 definitely better than 11-15.
