BC-- I am so happy you are back. I was hoping some of the discussion posts didn't scare you off. Most of us highly value the effort and time you have put in. I know that posters realize that these rankings are not your opinions; the computer results are basically based on strength of schedule and records, etc.. But-- I do agree with a lot of the posters that perhaps too much emphasis is placed on the schedule strength, based mostly on history and data entered into the equations. I would like to use one example in which I think that the computer input data is skewed. Let's take a 4A team (East Waterloo), a 3A team (Waverly-Shell Rock) and a 2A team (New Hampton). Now, maybe I am wrong, BUT in this example the human (me) thinks that the data (strength) could be bass ackwards. The actual strongest team could be New Hampton (the 2A team), which beat Waverly (3A), and Waverly trounced East Waterloo (4A). I'm sure other posters can come up with lots more examples. So- is Waverly awarded the most points since it beat a 4A team? Do they gain or lose computer points for losing to New Hampton? Or does the computer figure on East's record, which is abysmal (apologies to East, which is actually improving) or that they play 4A (MVC)? I think that the BCMoore rankings are fun to look at, because it tells us (I think) who has managed to win against the best competition, and who is penalized for being in a weaker conference. But-- it doesn't allow for injuries, sickness, rivalry games (in which the adrenaline level is out of sight), etc., etc. Some teams just elevate themselves into a higher gear at tournament time. I honestly think that most of the people on this board take Luke's ratings, the AP poll, the BCMoore strength poll and (mostly) their own basic common-sense and make up their own minds. It'll be fun to watch for some of our poster's own, personal polls/ratings/predictions as we move through districts and substates. I really enjoy the computer ratings, but I have to admit that I give MUCH MORE credence to the human ratings.

Sorry, I probably missed some of the posts. I bet there were some good opinions.

My life is basically in fast-forward; a lot going on, and all generally good. Lots of kids activities, sports rankings webiste, computer career, and investment advisor representative career.

Agree with a lot of your post; computer definitely can overestimate teams with losing records in strong conferences.
