Assumption took down Pleasant Valley on Senior Night. Carius was out of the game, but I think this game would have still be close with Carius.

It was 13-11 PV after 1 due to a bad shooting foul with 1.7 seconds left by Assumption. Kardell scored 11 of PV's 13 with a hot shooting start.

Assumption got hot behind the arc and got some layups at the rim, while shutting down PV completely in the second quarter. Strudevant for Assumption hit a few 3's as well as Doyle and Smith-Larsson. Smith-Larsson came in and gave Kardell issues, which resulted in a few turnovers and only 2 points for Kardell in the second quarter. Assumption led 28-16 at half. Kardell had 13 of PV 16 points. Assumption had balanced scoring from 5-6 players.

PV came out with some solid energy in the 3rd and Assumption looked a little complacent. A few baskets by PV and a few weak foul calls against Assumption and suddenly PV found themselves with momentum and Assumption found Youngblut and Wadsager in foul trouble and sitting. PV cut the Assumption lead to 28-24 about midway through the 3rd quarter. Strudevant came in off the bench to strike again with another 3 to break the scoring drought for Assumption. Making it a 7 point game. It was pretty even through the remainder of the 3rd quarter. Assumption holding a 5 point lead heading into the 4th.

The 4th quarter started to resort back to the first half for PV. They struggled to score and if not for Youngblut and Wadsager playing with foul trouble a few of the easy baskets they got around the rim would have been contested harder. Assumption held a pretty comfortable 8-10 point lead most of the 4th quarter. Greiner, Doyle, Smith-Larsson, and Youngblut picked up most of the scoring load as PV completely committed to denying Strudevant any shots after starting 4-4 from 3pt he rimmed out two very well contested 3ptrs in the second half. Assumption hit its FT's down the stretch to seal the game, but didn't make it complete easy as they turned it over a few times and missed an wide open layup with 2-3 minutes left that could have been nails in the coffin for PV.

Very well played game by Assumption. A few comments... I didn't mind that they weren't calling a lot of fouls. They called some very cheap fouls on Assumption for a few minutes in the first quarter and 3rd quarter that gave PV momentum. Before PV began fouling to stop the clock the game count in fouls was 13 against Assumption and 6 against PV. Most frustrating call came with about 4 minutes left in the game when PV began fouling Kipper reached around and had his hand around the Assumption players throat(Strudevant or Wadsager) as he swung him around. It was called a common foul and regardless if it was intentional or not should have warranted a flagrant foul.
