Are we supposed to be providing security/defense for Ukraine?

I was unaware of the denuclearization agreement between Clinton, the UK and Ukraine in 1994? It would appear as if we owe them coming to their defense. Am I wrong? Thoughts?

In the event that nuclear weapons are used against Ukraine if I understand this correctly.

Wow... that leaves Ukraine with the short straw if that's the case. The nukes were a deterrent to ensure they weren't invaded period. Horrible deal for them if that's the case.

IIRC, they couldn't afford to sustain a nuclear weapons program. We didn't want Ukraine to just hand them back to Russia so this deal was about them disposing of them and we paid for it. Ukraine got the good PR for signing the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
