Wow. Who the crap picks this stuff

Stanley is the better than any lineman in this group. Amazing.

Never seen the kid play but looked at his stats. I assume you're talking offense and not defense? From the defensive stats he's not even near the top of your own team.

Yeah because quikstats shows these stats:

times ran away from
times double teamed
times triple teamed

You see that is what is wrong with these awards. Kids like Stanley who is probably the only legit D1 guy right now out of this group get kicked off because he was double teamed at the line and then picked up by a back according to scheme gets screwed.

That's what I expect though...stats determine this garbage. It's like baseball. Kids making lists that are hitting the crap out of the ball against crappy pitching and they are super stars...when you play 30 games and 2 teams have legit pitching and the kid goes O fer against those two good pitchers but hits .500 against the crappy guys.

Stats aint everything

so he's the best prospect on the Team, if I recall I thought a Glenwood linemen made 1st team all state? You've seen all the other players on the list play 3A and 4A and he's better than anyone on the list, offense or defense? There is a player from my home town Sioux City, where did you see him play this year? Did you go watch the LC Kid that led all of 4A in sacks against the likes of Valley, Ankeny, Urbandale, East? Or are you speaking 3A only?

I have not seen the Stanley kid play so I can't and won't speculate and get the fact you're upset, But please quantify your statement as I don't see how you could have possibly seen the east kid play and what game did you watch the LC kid play. I can tell you without question both are legit players. You're making the same mistake with your statement that you're mad at the World Herald for making unless you did travel to SC and unless you watched each of the kids on the list play this past year???

He may or may not be worthy but tell us how can you make that statement, a simple " he should have made the list without the call out would carry more weight"

I am a fan/season ticket holder at USD and even know some of the players quite well, glad he's headed up here we can use good players...will warn the line guys I know to watch out for the "Glenwood Greenhorn" he's headed up to take their spot!

Stats on defense can't really be believed. There have been teams that have more solo tackles than plays defended. One team averaged 4.8 tacklers per play! Gang tackling at it's finest.

not disagreeing at all with that, maybe it's just me but I don't like the statement "he's better than anyone on the list." in who's opinion?

The kid may be very deserving, let it stand at that without calling out the kids that made the list. Maybe it's just me.

See the great thing is there is this thing called hudl. You see I can look at the highlights that a kid loads up and the best thing about this....I can see the number of the kid that so-called player is going against. so I watch film of a kid from I don't know, Sioux City South North West East against a kid from, I don't know Clockee and I can then look at Clockee on quickstats for I don't know, number XX who by all accounts on I don't know crap stats and see that number XX is 5' 9" 155 and by his stats has only 4 assists 6 games into the season...

I can also watch another piece of film where a guy checks the tight end, takes on a trapping guard and then underhooks a fullback....two of these guys are going on to play 1AA and the other is a D2 guy.

I am not saying none of those kids are deserving and they aren't good....but I am tired of people throwing stats around.....Quik stats is a great tool however the people using it are also tools.

HS is over now, onto college. I hope only the best for the kid at USD, a great school with great facilities.

I watched a Div 1 recruit get worked pretty much all game for the 3rd year in a row, heck my kid used 7 plays against the kid in his highlight video, but some coach feels he is power 5 worthy. Video is a better tool than quick stats but it also has limits as well

I see a Glenwood players (Loeffelbein) was named the Area Player of the Year by the local publication. Congratulations to the Glenwood Team that is quite an honor. The kid must be quite the athlete in multiple sports, what's his sports future ( college). I could not pull up the article on the internet.

Iowa Preps just picked the Sanders kid from Glenwood in their top 10 players for next year. Maybe the World-Herald did know what they were doing.

So did your son walk on to a D1 team and earn playing time on the practice field like the young man you are talking about.
