Last year we just came out with a bunch of new players who had no varsity experience and played scared. Now we have an experienced core and it should be a different game. I’ve met some of their guys at camps and I hear they have a pretty talented junior class so it should be a good game.”

“I think our football team will be very good next year. This year we were missing Blaise Gunnerson, who will make a huge impact offensively and defensively. We will lose some key seniors in Garret Keehner, Zach Trudo, Michael Egan, Jamarr Tanniehill, Dylan Corlett, and Riley Willie, but I know the young guys are going to be ready to take over. I know Max Havlicek is ready to contribute more to the offense as he is in the weight room with me for four days a week. Our entire line will be returning for next season. They are all experienced and they will be a crucial part of our offense. I am excited for next season and have big expectations of our team. Two young freshmen, Cullen McShane and Gabe Mcgeough, are going to be sophomores who will share duties in the backfield with Kutter Anderson and Ethan Stubbs. Urbandale linebacker Jaden Harrell
“feel like next season will definitely be better than this season. Our team is extremely young and talented, and I feel like we’re only going to grow and get better in the time we have before next season. It’ll for sure be fun to watch all of us get after it in the off-season.”
Ankeny running back Cael Boyd
“We had five sophomores play at the varsity level all season. For the last couple of games, our kicker was hurt, and we brought up another sophomore to fill that role. Our quarterback, many great receivers are returning, our starting running back returns, defensive ends have seen plenty of varsity time and I have a lot of trust in, lots of lineman coming back. Kuemper Catholic quarterback Cole Collison
“I think our toughest game on the schedule next year will be either Edgewood-Colesburg or Sumner-Fredricksburg. Ed-Co is losing their best player in Preston Rochford, but his brother Parker Rochford will be returning along with Max Bahls. Sumner-Fredricksburg will lose a lot on their line but will bring back a dynamic player in Kelby Olson.”
MFL quarterback Cedrick Drahn

A few others I think will be Bellevue. That game always produces a thriller and we are looking to get back at them for this season. Then Cascade and Beckman will also make for tough district games as well. I don’t see any easy games at all next year. We will for sure have to earn every win.”

Kuemper Catholic defensive end Kyle Berg
“This past season, our only regular season loss came to Union. We did not play as well as we could have, so that date is for sure circled on the calendar. All in all though, we don't have a single team in our district that we can go into expecting to win. We have to go into every game with the mindset that we have to compete and follow the game plan.”
Benton quarterback Clay Krousie

Ankeny wide receiver Brody Brecht
“Pella Christian. They are a tough team every year.”
Interstate-35 linebacker Joey Bregar
“Our toughest competition for next year will be North Linn, South Hardin, and Regina. South Hardin's program is heading in the right direction so that's a game we need to have our heads up for. Iowa City Regina brings back some playmakers that we will need to stop. They have a good quarterback that was battling some injuries last season. Our coach said that we need to watch out for some sneaky athletes from North Linn.”

Creston safety Rylan Luther

“Just like last year, Waukee and Johnston. They finished top 2 in our district and it's always a good game against those two teams. Another team that will be fun and tough is Southeast Polk after finishing at the Dome this past season. They probably feel like they're not done and they're going to go farther so they will be hungry for the wins.”

“Sergeant Bluff and Heelan have traditionally been the toughest competitors on the schedule after countless tight battles in recent past and I wouldn’t expect anything less this upcoming season.”
Spencer defensive tackle Brady Schlaeger

Ankeny Centennial running back Avery Gates
“In the season opener, we have Dubuque Senior at home. We lost to them 6-7 last year in a very winnable game. Last year we just came out with a bunch of new players who had no varsity experience and played scared. Now we have an experienced core and it should be a different game. I’ve met some of their guys at camps and I hear they have a pretty talented junior class so it should be a good game.”

“feel like next season will definitely be better than this season. Our team is extremely young and talented, and I feel like we’re only going to grow and get better in the time we have before next season. It’ll for sure be fun to watch all of us get after it in the off-season.”

“One of our toughest games next year will probably be Western Dubuque. They will also have a strong senior class and I’m looking forward to playing them.”
North Scott defensive end Ben Belken
“I’d say our hardest game next year will be Lewis Central. They’re a team that’s clearly talented, making a state run this year, and it’ll be a good challenge for us. They’ve got kids on that team who are really good, so it’ll be a fun matchup.”
Carlisle offensive tackle Hayden Amos
“Our toughest opponent will probably be South Central Calhoun. They have beaten us the past two years, and they return some great athletes.”
“If I had to say, it would be Tipton because they return a lot of their starters from this last season.”
Durant offensive lineman Joe Lilienthal
“Our district is tough, but I believe some of our hardest games next year will be the local rivals like South East Valley and Kuemper.”
South Central Calhoun wide receiver Zane Neubaum

Cedar Rapids Kennedy running back Cairron Hendred

“Iowa City West.”
Davenport North wide receiver Priest Sheedy
“West Sioux will be the best team on the schedule by far. It will be the toughest game.”
West Lyon running back Logan Meyer
“One of our toughest opponents next season will be Williamsburg. I think we surprised them this season at home, and they will be gunning for us at their place next year. A few others I think will be Bellevue. That game always produces a thriller and we are looking to get back at them for this season. Then Cascade and Beckman will also make for tough district games as well. I don’t see any easy games at all next year. We will for sure have to earn every win.”

Urbandale linebacker Jaden Harrell
“Dowling. They’re the best team in the state right now obviously. I don’t think anyone on that team is any more special than anybody we have on our team though. I’m excited especially for that game next season just because of how great a challenge it is for our team. That’ll be the game to watch next season.”
Ankeny running back Cael Boyd

Dubuque Hempstead defensive tackle Cayden Lovett
“I think our biggest competition next year will be Union. Union is always good no matter how many players they graduate. I’m not worried about West Marshall because their entire team revolved around Cameron Bannister.”
Benton tight end Ian Rupp
“The toughest competition next season will be Pella and Ballard. They have a lot of talent returning and are set to make a good run next season.”
Norwalk wide receiver Zach Marker
“A lot of teams are great competition such as Dowling, Valley, and Johnston, but lots of things can change over the next year. I’m looking forward to playing them and more teams to come.”
Waukee defensive back Aaron Smith

Kuemper Catholic defensive end Kyle Berg
“This past season, our only regular season loss came to Union. We did not play as well as we could have, so that date is for sure circled on the calendar. All in all though, we don't have a single team in our district that we can go into expecting to win. We have to go into every game with the mindset that we have to compete and follow the game plan.”
Benton quarterback Clay Krousie
“I don't know. It's hard to say. We have a lot of good teams to play next year and time will tell, but Dowling and Centennial are two big ones.”

“Honestly, I think our toughest competition this season will be the Waukon Indians. Last year, they were a very, very young team that still went a long-ways. They are only losing a couple of key seniors and are returning a lot of their starters.”
