My calculations must not be adding up correctly, how in the world are Drew Greenshaw (muscatine) and Johnny Sullivan (Clinton) not on first team, this blows my mind, greenshaw is second in the state in recieving yards and Johnny Sullivan leads 4A passing yards by 300 complete snubs in my eyes, also don't get me wrong soko from muscatine is a good player but there is no reason he should have gotten first team over guys like kameron kramer, Jensen gates and Cole deskin. For Christ sake 3 of the top 5 rushers in the state are not even first team.

Curious as to what criteria the writers who vote on this important honor use. Seems like the 1st team is off a bit at some positions.
Congratulations to all of the athletes who made the lists though... hard work does pay off

Congrats to all these kids! But yes , big question, Who is on the selection committee? I don't want to take away from any kids accomplishments but isn't that what the honor is for? Accomplishments for this year? That Combs kid, RB for Davenport West finished 2nd in rushing after regular season, and accomplished this with no blocking, and he didn't even make 3rd team? Did they even watch any of these kids in action? And How can a QB who wasn't even in the top 15 4A, in passing yards, completion percentage, QB rating , and even ranked much lower in total yards when you add rushing in to it, make first team? There were several kids who had a far superior performances at the QB position this year without the luxury of all that talent around them. Moore finished ahead of him and Sullivan led 4a all year including after playoffs, and all classes in passing after the regular season and he had close to 300 yards average per game in a very tough District. Again I'm sure all great kids but definitely some glaring snubs.

The entire process needs explained, I follow both 3A and 4A and 100% from the Westside so all I can speak about with any knowledge is West Players

The 4A appears to be all about Des Moines Schools. I think DSM Sports Fan did a great job evaluating without prejudice throughout the season, I would love his take on this. Maybe next year we could use him to visit the east side as well and get rid of sports writers who lack the knowledge to pick! DSM Sportsfan you up to the challenge?

.How do you leave a kid off the list that's was at the top of the state in passing (Duggan) and QB rating or how does Flemister from East not make 1st team? They pick Baker (TJ) on 2nd team defense vs offense... really sports writers?

What about Theobald who was Iowa's sack leader and I think state leader in TFL ( according to Sportsfan)..like Duggan both were left off any teams? How can that be, what are they using to pick these guys?

These are a few from the Westside that DSM Sportsfan called out, sure there are more:(

Is this really about who goes the deepest in the playoffs? What are they using to pick the teams, obviously stats are not used?

I have less problems in 3A, when thinking about it it's probably because few if any Des Moines Teams play 3A. I am sure the east side feels the same way.

the entire process needs explained and evaluated. Get people voting that understand the game, we owe it to the players.

Here are the selection committee and coaches/staff that apparently provide "statistical information".

Agree, or at least watch the players. Complete stats are also a good measurement of performance but it seems they threw those out in some cases.

from the looks of the picks I am not sure they even bothered to look at stats, after all it's just a high school kid, if they mess up who cares:( terrible job sports writers! Not sure how certain players could have been completely overlooked if they took the time to look at stats before voting. Can anyone get a list of the voters, it will most likely explain who and why players got picked. I won't call out any players who got picked but look and compare the stats and you'll ask WTF?
Also for those who say stats don't matter, why the hell does the state make the teams enter them into quik stats then, lets do away with them? matters to someone obviously! Also the voting should take place at the end of the regular season to be fair to those players who teams don't qualify ( Flemister and Baker both come to mind from the east, lets compare apples to apples).

I did not see many games outside of Dubuque county until the playoffs but the biggest snub from the east side in my opinion is greenshaw from muscatine! The kid lead the state in recieving yards after the regular season... Yes more than Oliver Martin from icw, from watching his tape and seeing how his numbers stack with others there is absolutely no reason for him to not be first team

Also love seeing kameron Kramer from western Dubuque on this list I got to watch him play twice this year and all I can say is that the kid is relentless, everyone should watch tape on this kid I would even venture to have him on second team, I also agree with combs making third team at least, very impressive season by him
