Thats mainly because they were splitting up some good teamsWhy is South Central Calhoun in a Substate with Rock Valley?............
I also like how that substate game location is TBD.
Tony roe thinks that George Little Rock’s size will bother Louscher. Also I believe he mentions that they’ve played one of the hardest schedules in the state so there record may not suggest how good they really are. I haven’t seen them play this season. I saw SOB play a very good Remsen team twice this year. The key for SOB is there defense. Their offense is pretty basic and is not going to win them a title. It’ll be there stingy 2-3 zoneGLR won't give SOB any run. The zone D will shut GLR down.
Do you think Hinton is better then GLR?Having seen both SOB and GLR play I would be AMAZED if SOB wins by less than 20. GLR has two average players and SOB has 9 guys constantly rotating in being super physical. It will not be a close game.
Haha well let’s hope we get a great substate game between them and Algona Garrigan then. The match up between a potential St Alberts and Remsen really intrigues me. St Mary’s beat West Sioux tonight by 3 (I’m not sure if West Sioux were still missing there starters or not) St Mary’s is starting to look like a top 3 team againHaving seen both SOB and GLR play I would be AMAZED if SOB wins by less than 20. GLR has two average players and SOB has 9 guys constantly rotating in being super physical. It will not be a close game.
I haven't seen Hinton play but I know they have lost to some bad teams but then they win against West Sioux so its hard to tell. I would still take them over this year's GLR teamDo you think Hinton is better then GLR?
They will most likely play new London in the second round too which gave them a close call. I don’t see them making it to state at some point those close games will go the other way. Also Waco will be challenged, will have to play Notre Dame which took them OT in the first meeting or Pekin who gave them a close game last week.
I’m not a WACO homer, but I’m pretty sure they just beat new London again by 20 and beat notre dame by 12. They’ve been playing much better as of late. And having seen Nick play a few times, he’s not 6’7They will most likely play new London in the second round too which gave them a close call. Yeah they are for sure still the favorite, my only point was it won’t be a walk in the park for them.I’m not a WACO homer, but I’m pretty sure they just beat new London again by 20 and beat notre dame by 12. They’ve been playing much better as of late. And having seen Nick play a few times, he’s not 6’7
I’ve watched both teams play. I think garrigan is a much more talented team, but South O’Brien is better at basketball if that makes sense. I was not very impressed with Garrigan’s big man.Not very many people picking us over South O’Brien I haven’t seen them play but from what people have been saying on here, there the real deal. I still think we are the better team. There strength seems to be there height and we are quite a bit taller then them. Last year when we played Janesville is was sorta the same thing. A teams strength was there size and physicality and we just dominated them physically because they only could score inside and couldn’t shoot
Which game did you watch garrigan play?I’ve watched both teams play. I think garrigan is a much more talented team, but South O’Brien is better at basketball if that makes sense. I was not very impressed with Garrigan’s big man.
I have been saying that myself as a Garrigan fan the past 3 years! Although I still think this year is different. This senior class has always been good at basketball dating back to there middle school years. It’s there sport. Last years senior class loved football and maybe was not as invested into basketball as this class of seniors. Will be interesting to seeI’ve watched both teams play. I think garrigan is a much more talented team, but South O’Brien is better at basketball if that makes sense. I was not very impressed with Garrigan’s big man.
I find it so interesting because both these teams strengths and weaknesses are the same. Great interior post play, great passing, not good shooting teams, and heavily reliant on a star player. I disagree though with your premise they beat teams there less talented then. I saw them play against a St Mary’s team they were a lot more talented then and lose by 11. They also got swept by West Sioux. I understand they beat Boyden Hull, but really other then that they haven’t. Garrigan is good but lost by almost 20 to Lake Mills so don’t know how legit they are either. Seems like they score quite a bit which is odd because they are tall and taller teams tend to play slowerSOB is know to beat teams that have much more talent than them. They zone is so relentless you really have to be shooting well to beat them.
Against Algona and then watched south O’Brien play Remsen the 2nd timeWhich game did you watch garrigan play?
That explains why you were not impressed with us. Our second best player played on a really really bad sprained ankle. I don’t think he even scored. Set him back actually for 3-4 games. Without those games he’d be averaging 18-20. He’s probably around 16 right now a game. As for our big guy, he just struggled that night. Algona is a very good defensive team and had a lot of length that he was not use to at that point in the seasonAgainst Algona and then watched south O’Brien play Remsen the 2nd time
Garrigan was back and forth that whole game till the Winkel brothers got in foul trouble then lake mills pulled away and made shots late in the game when it was all but over. I was there.I find it so interesting because both these teams strengths and weaknesses are the same. 14 and 14 rebounds and 5 blocks isn’t really struggling. That explains why you were not impressed with us. Our second best player played on a really really bad sprained ankle. I’m not saying they always beat good teams, but these last few years with their runs to state, I would say they were having to beat teams they weren’t as talented as every year.I find it so interesting because both these teams strengths and weaknesses are the same. Great interior post play, great passing, not good shooting teams, and heavily reliant on a star player. I disagree though with your premise they beat teams there less talented then. Average/good players on bad teams will have those stat lines because they take the large majority of the shots. Not saying your wrong with it not being a close game but saying GLR has 2 average players?? Thats ridiculous. The Haken kid is having an all state season and is a very very good player and Mauldin is a very good player, the problem is there is not very much around them. GLR however is the 7th best 3pt shooting % team in class 1a. It will take GLR making 10-12 3pts to have a chance and Haken having his usual stat game, but agree SOB is head and shoulders better. In fact maybe they should just cancel the game. And who's to say Hinton won't beat GLR anyway, but they won't have a shot vs SOB either so no need discussing things or facts either.
I agree with the average players putting up good stats with playing on a not good team. But GLR is still .500 in a very tough conference. I know your trying to downplay them and we get that SOB will beat them by 20, but SOB is also a top 4 team. I honestly think GLR could win some bad districts in southwest iowaAverage/good players on bad teams will have those stat lines because they take the large majority of the shots.
If you want facts here is a stat. Those two players have taken 493 shots this year. The whole rest of the team has taken 342.
I’m not saying they are bad players at all. I’m saying, after watching both teams, I would take SOB by 20+
With a 10-10 record yes they could win some bad districts. Against teams with winning records, however, this year they are 1-8I agree with the average players putting up good stats with playing on a not good team.
