Iowa Preps has talked to a number of football players about their opponents heading into the big games this weekend!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Athlete: John Carlson
High School: Bondurant-Farrar
Opponent: Pella
What do you know about your next opponent in Pella?
“They just snapped their win streak and they are going to be angry so we have to be ready to go. It is Pella so they want to get back from that. I think they are still beatable. It is just another team and we are going to be ready for it.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Athlete: Noah Fenske
High School: New Hampton
Opponent: Forest City
What do you know about your next opponent in Forest City?
“I know that they’ll throw the ball a lot. I only watched one game on film. I used to live in Forest City so it is kind of going back home and wanting to play against them. It should be fun.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Athlete: Brennan Breuer
High School: Mediapolis
Opponent: Northeast Gooselake
What do you know about your next opponent in Northeast Gooselake?
“We know that they’ll throw the ball. They like to give it to their big tight end and I think he is 6-8. They’ll throw a lot of screens and they’ll pass it down the field. They’ll make us cover it. We have to be prepared for that.”
What are the keys for your team to be successful?
“Being able to move the ball and keeping people healthy. We lost our quarterback with a torn ACL and we have had a few ankle sprains and hamstrings. Stuff like that.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Athlete: Jason Hopp
High School: Earlham
Opponent: Southwest Valley
What do you know about your next opponent in Southwest Valley?
“I believe they are ranked in some polls and probably top three in the district. We got to focus up. They have a really good athlete and we have to focus on containing him. We have to focus on playing defense.”
What are the keys for your team to be successful?
“Really it is coming out every game. We build up our confident over the last two-weeks. We have to hit the whole game and keep hitting them.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Athlete: Spencer Touro
High School: Benton
Opponent: Cedar Rapids Xavier
What do you know about your next opponent in Cedar Rapids Xavier?
“We know that they always are really good. They are one of the premiere teams in Iowa high school football. We know that but if we do what we do best we’ll be alright.”
What are the keys for your team to be successful?
“I’d say slowing the game down and minimizing their big plays. We have to keep their skill kids in check and stay patient. They’ll have good plays but we have to stick in there and do what we do.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Athlete: Miciah Hidlebaugh
High School: Dallas Center-Grimes
Opponent: Greene County
What do you know about your next opponent in Greene County?
“I know that they go two defensive ends that are tall. If we play our game and do what we did against Pella, we can come out with a W.”
