The U.S. EEOC alleges that Sheetz has a practice of screening all applicants for records of criminal conviction and then denying them employment based on said record. The EEOC's charge claims that Sheetz disproportionally screened out applicants who are black, Native American and multiracial.

The lawsuit does not allege that Sheetz was motivated by race when making hiring decisions.

"Federal law mandates that employment practices causing a disparate impact because of race or other protected classifications must be shown by the employer to be necessary to ensure the safe and efficient performance of the particular jobs at issue,"

They want all minority applicants who were denied a job to:

A) be offered a job
B) receive lost back pay
C) gain the seniority they would have had if they had been hired

Seems reasonable...fvcking liberals have lost their freaking minds.

What could go wrong?
At least the administration is focused on important things, like Clark's contract and adding biological males under Title IX.

Diversity Goals Are Disappearing

At least the pendulum is starting to swing back from insane to partially normal at some companies...

Spending $1.2 billion with diverse businesses. Doubling Black and Latino leadership. Increasing recruitment from historically Black colleges and universities.
Those diversity goals were highlighted in companies’ annual reports in 2022. A year later, those references were gone.
Dozens of companies altered descriptions of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in their annual reports to investors as DEI programs come under legal and political threat. The changes highlight the balancing act companies face as they navigate pressure from both critics and advocates of diversity efforts.

Note: Kohl’s said its DEI strategy hasn’t changed and more information is included in its annual ESG report and on its website.

Kohl’s KSS 1.49%increase; green up pointing triangle no longer says it is cultivating “diverse leaders” for advancement, as it had for the past three years. The retailer’s latest annual report says its priority is to develop “leaders.”
GameStop GME 1.07%increase; green up pointing triangle cut mention of “diversity and inclusion” from a list of philosophy tenets for its human-resources department.
Software company UiPath PATH -1.52%decrease; red down pointing triangle used to define DEI measures as “a business priority and a moral imperative.” Now they are “key to creating an environment where our people feel safe to be themselves, are empowered to grow their careers, are rewarded competitively, and are challenged to do their best work while embracing the power of automation.”

Did they not screen all white applicants the same way and not hire them on the same basis? You are right this is stupid.

Not so fast Derek, did you know you’re actually “attacking democracy” with this nonsense…so says the full figured (election denier) Ms Abrams.

Yes but since people of color are more likely to have a criminal record, the practice is "unfair."

I guess the anti-defamation league also has unfair hiring practices because they won't hire nazis.

I never had a problem with police profiling criminal behavior... if running drugs from Miami to Atlanta, then don't drive Chrysler 300's with tinted windows, chrome wire wheels, and curb feelers... have some common sense and imagination ($1 to Clint Eastwood/The Mule). Sheesh...

Believe it or not, if you are really committed to drug interdiction, those guys move large amounts of dope in soccer mom type vehicles now. Brand new minivans, SUV's, crossovers or something like a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. They're sometimes rentals but not always.

They do this because of what you've typed above. You can always find mid level dealers or users in 300's, Chargers, ect. with the wheels and all that but big dope busts come from vehicles that most people would never look twice at. We teach this now in Drug Interdiction classes.

Also the dope is hidden in secret compartments that magnetically open when the knobs on the dash are put in the correct position (sort of like the old padlocks with dials).

The coolest one I've found was a fake battery under the hood filled with fentanyl. The real battery was hidden under the backseat.

PS...untaxed cigarettes are illegally trafficked on a massive scale in this country and a lot of those profits fund terrorism...mostly in the northeast.

What gave away the fake battery? Seems like it would be easy to gut a real battery from the bottom, re-attach the bottom and just hook up the battery cables like it was the real thing...

It was a new car and at first glance I thought something looked odd/modified. It was well done but it caught my eye. I halfway dismissed it.

However, upon searching the vehicle, I discovered a battery cable near the backseat that ran under the floorboard. When I saw that, I immediately went back to the battery under the hood and voila.

That same vehicle also had fentanyl in the spare tire and an empty sealed compartment in the gas tank that we believe would have been used to transport cash back after the transaction.

Fund terrorism in the NE, or the NE is where the cigarettes are trafficked? Hopefully the first one.

Probably both tbh but specifically that's where most untaxed cigarettes are trafficked. The cigarettes are so highly taxed up there that it makes the act more profitable. The money ends up overseas.

Atlanta area cops, GBI I think, busted a large ring not too long ago though.

SIL finished the Iowa LEO academy last week, earned top driver award, got to go play at the Newton raceway like daughter did last year. He owned a charger before, one of his now coworkers pulled him over in it so maybe he had a slight charger edge.

In Alabama we call that EVOC week and it was flipping awesome. Yep, I can J-turn a Tahoe and a Crown Vic. Stressful but a lot of fun.

Emergency

Course

Before the class the time required for the course seemed impossible. By the end it we were just doing this...

16 weeks here but only 1 day at Newton, rest is on site looks like mostly gravel, which most of the road here are. Training done here at Camp Dodge basically in Des Moines, Check in on Sunday, leave on Friday.

My county had one last year, had BD party for daughter with hay ride using car tailer, decided it would be fun to swerve at 30 mph or so, ran over one kid, fled from seen AL probably involved, unemplted now. Daughter class mates one of 4 didn't get in to park at felony stop 3 car to respond, hit the other 2, followed but 110 in 30 mph on welfare check. Not employed either.

At 26 the older guys retired so I think she is the most senior Park ranger on the staff. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and aware of what happening around her.

She volunteered to be tazed first, she when down with a string of F's. Shocked them a bit as that was pretty out of character, one of the staff greets her with 4 F every time since.

It's a rite of passage. I'm just glad that we don't have to get shot with our guns in order to be qualified to carry them as we do with tasers.
