WORTHINGTON, Minn. -- It wasn't the way Julian Ysquierdo wanted to get his 100th career wrestling victory, but the East senior hit the century mark nonetheless.

Competing in the 145-pound weight class, the East High senior became the 12th wrestler in school history to hit 100 wins when he won by forfeit Thursday night in a 58-21 win over Redwood Valley (Minn.).

Ysquierdo (37-7) then left with an ankle injury in the next dual, a 51-20 loss to host Worthington.

He saw a 14-match winning streak come to an end when he lost by injury default to Worthington's Matt Poppema.

"It was in the second overtime," said East Coach Vince Pederson. "(Poppema's) knee drove into Julian's ankle. Julian's a tough kid, but he was really in pain. We're hoping for the best."
