Q&A with Waukee Northwest linebacker Harry Leinen
How did the high school football season go overall?
“It was a great second year for our brand-new school. We made the playoffs and won the first round. Overall it ended 6-5.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Currently I am in track. Lifting takes place on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 6 a.m.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Pretty confident in our team next year. Lot of guys are returning and players are stepping up already to fill the positions that we lost.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Each team in the CIML is always a tough game. This year we got some new teams on our schedule that we won’t take lightly.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Chase Schutty is a great TE for Centennial. Good frame and strong. Great player all around.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“I thought it was great. I thought our chemistry between players both on the offense and defense was excellent.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plans for workouts are lifting with teammates 5-6 times a week at Shawn Frankl's Big Iron Gym. Sports wise, I am currently coming off a basketball season and attended a football camp and am planning to attend more.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Coming off of two back-to-back winning seasons, I feel our team wants to add to that and make it in the state playoffs.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We can't overlook any teams we play this year. We need to come out before every game ready to play.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“5A football has a lot of talent. There will be good players every game.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“I think we grew closer as a team but overall, our season was a little disappointing.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I will be working out Mon-Fri at least once a day, twice if I can make time. Practice shot, disc, and running footwork drills.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think we will do very well if everyone stays consistent with workouts.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think HMS will be our toughest game because of their linemen.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Cole McCarty.”

What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I have been going to camps such as Minnesota State Mankato and I have morning lifts with my baseball team.”

What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“I feel I have most improved my mobility and being a better overall athlete in hopes of having a good season.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel our team will have a great season, our players are buying in and the coaches are leading us in the right direction. We also have some underclassmen that could really help us make the jump to being state champs.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We always have our rivalry between Xavier but I feel North Scott will be a tougher game this season.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“There is not an individual that is better than our team as a whole therefore I don’t think there is an individual that we should worry about.”

What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“In the off-season I have been lifting and working on my speed.”

What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“Reading pass versus run.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Win the state championship.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Southeast Polk.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Southeast Polk QB.”
