Xavier vs. Assumption from the east

Heelan vs. Pella from the west

I'll take Heelan vs. Xavier

It will be interesting this year with no predetermined bracket how the state will assign games. They will stick with appropriate seeds vs seeds but the state will be able to chose who plays who each round. Example in central Iowa there is a lot of 3A schools there could be 3-4 #1 seeds very near each other and the state will get to choose who plays who in the end not the predetermined bracket.

CR Xavier defeats SC Heelan. Both teams are coming off of State Final seasons and have lots of athletes.

Not so fast, my friend........It's a long season. Surprises and upsets are the name of the game.

Looking at Quik Stats and noticed a number of teams do not have their final rosters posted yet. However, Xavier's roster appears to have their final roster online - 71 kids rostered and 41 of them are seniors. I realize they graduated some D1 kids, but that is an impressive number of players.

Yep, Xavier had the most kids on a Varsity roster last year compared to any other 4A school (even WDV had fewer and they have 4x the enrollment).

Championship:

Heelan vs Xavier
Xavier wins.

heelen has to be a favorite from the west, since they were #1 last year. heelen has a transfer qb that will probably start, but don,t know a thing about his talent level. sounds like they will gear more towards the running game..dallas center grimes might be a force this year. dcg returns a wealth of talent from a team that had a 9-2 season, with an all-stater on the team. that is my 2 pre-season farvorites from the west..
