Which team do you feel was the most impressive during W1?

I have a couple in mind:

Madrid with a 28-13 win over 1A semifinalist Van Meter
South Winn with a 34-12 win over 2A runner-up Waukon
Emmetsburg routing 3A Storm Lake 42-7

Those first two probably aren't big surprises that those teams won, especially South Winn over Waukon as they lost quite a bit of talent from last year, but the margin is what impresses me the most.

With E'burg, I know Storm Lake has not been very good (just 2-7 last year), but it was nice to see them get back to form with a wide victory margin after all the seniors they lost from last year's squad that went 5-4.

The crazy thing about the Madrid v. Van Meter game was that Madrid kneeled out the game on Van Meter's 10 or so going in. It could very easily have been 36-13 if they had wanted to punch it in. Van Meter lost a lot from last year's semifinal team, including a game changing QB in Brittain. District 7 is going to be fun to watch every week.

Yeah, Madrid is gonna be tough this year, I have a feeling.

I wouldn't be surprised if the district champion had 1 or even 2 losses. That might be more likely than a team going undefeated out of this district.

Like I said in the weeks leading up the season:

those who had Van Meter as a top 10 team were dealing with Fools Gold. Brandon Brittain was a gamechanger at QB.

No way they are a top 10 team.

Not taking anything away from Madrid, but their victory is not as impressive as others feel it is.

I expected Madrid to win by 2 scores.
They have a good program.
