I would say its Waukee seeing that they play both Dowling and Valley for non-conference. If they can start out at least 2-1, they should be set for the remainder of the regular season.

agree w/ DSMan, while teams like Polk, Ames and Johnston will have to play up to preseason rankings after losing talented Sr. classes, it always seems like Waukee is having to defend their status as a really good football program.

Outside of the Dowling match-up, (which has the makings of being the best 4A game this year IMHO), Waukee should (and in my estimation will) have a huge, statement season.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson. They have the schedule to make the playoffs and relatively high turnout and a QB from Indiana.
They need to step up as a program. I hope they do.

Definitely Waukee. If they lose to Valley and/or Dowling right out of the gate, it might not affect the players, but it will cast doubt from the outside on the program. They were so close last year, but they've still got to prove that they can get over the hump. And with the group of guys who will be graduating after this season, this is the time to strike.
