I actually like the idea. If they're willing to serve our country and have a clean record, win-win.
It at least puts a value on citizenship, and not just free paper. If citizenship = 2 years of someone’s life plus they receive discipline and perform a function, I’m good with it too

The people crossing into the country have a better chance of meeting the minimum requirements for acceptance into the military than the majority of kids in the US these days.
Not so sure I’m all in on this one, I do appreciate the fact anyone (let alone an immigrant….albeit illegal) is willing to serve our country but not so sure we should be in incentivizing an Illegal alien fighting force.
This is the issue I have. I recognize and agree with all of the points on the pros. But this has me a little uneasy with the idea. Especially given the dorks we have running the country these days.

I have a medic on my ship that became a citizen that way. That was also the way a lot of Filipinos became citizens as well. I think it was 6 years of service at that time.
During my San Diego stint, knew of many Filipino women who became citizens by marrying sailors on leave in Subic Bay. 😏
I’m all for it! I served with many foreign immigrants who paid their way to citizenship by serving their new country. But admit I’m a supporter of legal immigration. I have sponsored 5 exchange students for that purpose.
